Michael Steele, the Republican former lieutenant governor of Maryland who lost a Senate race there in 2006, said he is proud of Obama as a black man, but that "come November, I will do everything in my power to defeat him." Electing Obama, he said, would not automatically solve the woes of the black community. Love It

I can see being glad that a barrier has been broken. But to vote for a candidate based on the color of his skin is racism, pure and simple.

Obama made it a point to come to Maryland and openly campaign against Steele, backing Carden(sp) and ‘telling’ the voters that ‘race didn’t matter, go for Carden’. Steele was given a rough time in the black community in MD, think they had quite a few ‘OREO’ moments which were naturally cast aside by the media...
Of course, when BO left MD and went to TN to campaign for Ford, the object was to ‘help the ‘brother’ get ahead’.
