Herm...solar cycle within (and well within) the limits of its HISTORICAL NORM. Solar Cycle (or lack there of) in the 17th Century responsible for the little ice age huh? You don’t say?

Who has Al Gore’s Email?

Nothing is out of whack with the sun, a NASA researcher said this week,...

So I suppose we can assume everything is in whack with the sun. (I love getting a chance to use those scientific/technical terms.)

The sun’s “not screwy”, and nothings “out of whack” with it. Phew! This article is way too technical for me.

You can count of these guys to always blow the smoke. The last peak in solar activity was 2001, and with an approximately 11 year cycle, the next peak should be 2012. It is now mid 2008, and the sun has been completely blank for the last 18 days. I’m not saying this is cataclysmic, but it is unusual and interesting.

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it’s all right
It’s all right

All's quiet...

...perhaps too quiet.

“Nothing is out of whack with the sun, a NASA researcher said this week...”

Well, knowing how good NASA is it at metric conversions...
Do we know if they used the proper temperature conversion scale...as they moved from Fahrenheit to Celsius? :-)

Translation: The sun is not cooperating with the AGW-entrepreneurs, so it must be “screwy.”

The only thing “out of whack” is Hathaway’s predictions!!!

19th August 2006

Backward Sunspot Could Fortell Enormous Solar Cycle

“We’ve been waiting for this,” says David Hathaway, a solar physicist at the Marshall Space Flight in Huntsville, Alabama. “A backward sunspot is a sign that the next solar cycle is beginning.”

Hathaway is correct if by “historic” he means the complete solar cycle record since the 17th century. If, however, we look at just the last 4-5 cycles, things are a bit grimmer. Cycle 24 may be as low as cycle 14 back in the early 20th century when the world population was only 1.75 billion. Now that we have an additional 5 billion mouths to feed, a low cycle could lead to global cooling that will drastically affect the harvest of essential grains around the world. Starvation may be the fate of hundreds of millions over the next 20 years since cycle 25 is supposed to be the lowest cycle in centuries based on information we have about the sun’s conveyor belt.

Ok, what does this have to do with “gods, graves, or glyphs”?

Well, this is one of those “duh” articles where a scientist bucks the popular convention and calls it like it is. The sun’s current activity levels are within the norms that we have observed, postulated, and inferred from both archeological and historical records.

Of course, he’s going to find himself being scolded by his “handlers” for publishing a finding that runs contrary to what the grant underwriters want to hear.
