According to numerous press reports, President George W. Bush plans to attend the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Beijing, China later this month. Bush said that it "would be an affront to the Chinese people" if he stayed away. Other world leaders, including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain, are choosing to not attend the opening ceremonies in the communist country.
It is hard for this writer to laud President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but in this case, even the socialist Roosevelt showed more integrity than our so-called "conservative" President, George W. Bush. When the 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany, President Roosevelt refused to attend those ceremonies for fear that his presence would give honor and prestige to the notorious Adolf Hitler. And so it would have. And, by the same token, when President Bush attends the opening ceremonies in China, he is giving honor and prestige to the bloody butchers of Beijing who have persecuted, tortured, and murdered multiplied thousands of the Chinese people since the communist regime took power in 1949.
President Bush said it would be an affront to the Chinese people if he did not attend the Olympics. Wrong. It would be an affront to the Red Chinese tyrants. And they deserve to be affronted! Instead, by attending the Olympic ceremonies, Bush is choosing to affront the hundreds of thousands of Chinese victims who have suffered brutality and barbarism at the hands of the very people Bush will be wining and dining with. Actually, by participating in the Beijing Olympics, President Bush is an affront to freedom-loving people everywhere.
For example, the Chinese government has already created profiles of thousands of foreign journalists ...

Iran and NK are not expansionist governments with nuclear ballistic missile boats and a stated goal of eventual war with the US. Iran and NK aren’t developing 24 new classes of surface ships, all with the aim of engaging and defeating US carrier battle groups. Iran and NK are not involved in extremely far-reaching, hyper-comprehensive military and industrial spying programs in the US, nor are they actively testing weapons programs designed specifically to counter American satellites, nor are they carrying out monthly cyber attacks against the US military and civilian infrastructure.
Additionally, China controls the Panama canal, has tried to ship millions of illegal small arms to the US, and is entering into agreements to drill oil and build huge ports right outside the US border. Also, to my knowlege, the largest SIGINT base in the world is operated in Cuba by the Chinese, not the Iranians or the North Koreans.
Add to this to the fact that China has the fastest-growing economy in the world, and you begin to get the picture.
Chuckie drinks too much swampwater. He’d disagree with the President on just about any decision that the President makes.
I really hope you were being sarcastic.
He whored himself out within a few weeks of being inaugurated by paying off the ChiComs after they held our troops hostage.
If you are intent on destroying your enemy, you destroy their economy along with their communications and their military. China knows that they cannot just launch nukes or invade the US. The battle must be waged carefully.
Throughout history, the side with the manufacturing advantage usually wins. We do not have the manufacturing advantage that we once had.
You don't think that glorifying that hellhole of a country with his presence is grounds for "trashing" him?
I’m learning to speak Chinese in the hopes that they will find me useful in rounding up others ...
If China is ready to launch an all out war, including a military campaign, it might make sense to try and crash our economy. If not just trashing our economy alone would result in their economic collapse. I don’t see how that would an intelligent and beneficial move for them.
I am so sick of this feel-good, bleeding-heart, "what about the athletes" talk. If I were an athlete, I would happily sit these games out and let as many people as possible know why. There's no reason this current batch couldn't do the same. Screw 'em.
Jerome Corsi, author of the newly-released Obama Nation book, says he plans to vote for Chuck Baldwin.
That should have been Alec, not Alex.
It is puzzling how so many here turn into DU-whiners and Obama supporters when the issue of Communist China comes up.
Calling someone “isolationsist” or “protectionist” when criticizing Communist China is getting old and weak...and shows you’re just another nutty liberal.
Communist China is our biggest threat. They have the military, economic, and technological power to harm the USA. And they have made no bones about it
But, the Nutty Liberal Free Trade Globalists still want to pander to Communist China, especially with free trade. You yank free trade from Communist China, and the pendulum swings back positive for the USA.
This is a travesty that Bush-san is going to the Olympics. This is more appeasement for Communist China.
Maybe Bush is “protectionist for Communist China”
Pretty much, if you still support free trade with Communist China....you are a communist
It would seem to be that way, rdb3 and Bahbah.
Um, you do understand that President Bush forced China to pressure North Korea on nuclear disarmament?
And you do understand that he had to do that because Jimmy Carter (with the blessings of the Clinton Administration) ventured of with $1bn of US taxpayer dollars for the North Koreans to undo the sanctions that the Chinese imposed (and enforced) on North Korea? And that by doing so, North Korea had no threat of sanctions if he cheated on a treaty with the US, but he did have grave consequences had he cheated on China.
If you have a policy issue with China, people independently making the decision to boycot is more effective than sanctions and it doesn’t cause any problems to the US.
Containment only worked when we had Western Europe join us. That won’t happen this time. They can’t even stop their own businesses from wrongfully doing business with Iran.
Hello, my friend. I shall scroll up to the story and see what is going on.
Oh, Chuck, take a valium and untwist your panties.
specifically, how would Bush attending the opening ceremonies of the Olympics be an affront to the American people? I sure don't feel affronted.
And you trust that North Korea, under pressure from Communist China...is really going to disarm their nukes?
Yeah. Right. And Madeline Albright is pretty....
Supporting Communist China via free trade is a nutty policy. Subsidizing the enemy, while bankrupting your own nation, is stupid. And very Nutty Globalist.
Anyone who thinks Communist China is ever going to be fair and square in dealing with the west....please line up, to the left.
Bingo.
It would seem to me there are much more important issues to deal with than whether or not Bush goes to the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.
