Clinton Advisers Skipping Obama Speech
Wasgington Post ^ | Aug. 25, 2008 | Matthew Mosk

A number of Sen. Hillary Clinton's top advisers will not be staying in Denver long enough to hear Barack Obama accept the nomination for president, according to sources familiar with their schedules.

Clinton will deliver her speech Tuesday night. She will hold a private meeting with her top financial supporters Wednesday at noon, and will thank her delegates at an event that afternoon. Former president Bill Clinton will speak that night. Several of Hillary Clinton's supporters are then planning to leave town. Among them, Terry McAuliffe, Clinton's campaign chairman, and longtime supporters Steve Rattner and Maureen White. Another of Clinton's top New York fundraisers, Alan Patricof, did not make the trip to Denver.

Robert Zimmerman, a Clinton supporter who is trying now to navigate between the two camps, will be staying for Obama's speech. But he said in an interview that it would be unrealistic to expect there would not still be some tension between the two camps -- he noted that the same was true with supporters of Gary Hart and, to a lesser extent, Howard Dean.

"This convention provides a very important opportunity for the Obama campaign to bond with the constituencies that supported Hillary Clinton," Zimmerman said.

The Clintons want to be out of town with secure alibis in case something “unexpected” happens.

Mark my words.

It is the worst kept secret in Washington that the Clintons would love to see Obama humiliated in the election this year so the RATs would come crawling back to Hillary! to save them in 2012.

I wouldn't mind seeing her give her "buddy" John McCain some help behind the scenes in order to increase her plan's chances for success.

What a shame they just don't have the stomach for listening to “the One” give his acceptance speech! I have a strong stomach so will most definitely listen with my bowl of popcorn ready!

Then this evening we just can't miss Michelle as she talks about her and Obama’s upbringing and about all the wonderful morals and values they gained from their parents which are to be passed on to their two little girls. Morals and values like going to church most every Sunday to hear their dear Rev. Wright say _ _ America and tell how America is controlled by those rich white people! Morals and values like not to worry if you happen to get pregnant, Daddy will see to it that you are NOT PUNISHED WITH A BABY!

I do have to have a strong stomach to listen to ANY DEM!

I wouldn’t bank on that. They probably just want to skip town before the riots start after they steal the election....LOL

‘Whitey tape’ coming soon or some other earth shaking scandal is where my money is.....LOL

I won’t believe Hillary is giving up until I see the roll call vote.

Why would these good loyal Democrats leave town before Obama accepts the nomination and gives his Mile High Speech?

Sounds like they are more loyal to the Clintons, not to the Democrat party. How can they then talk about party loyalty if they leave before the climax of the party?

I’d say Hillary is in a hurry to get back to New York to do the job she is being paid to do but, I know that ain’t true.

Like the drunk who shall never be sober until he admits he is a drunk, Americans have become fascist and thus must learn to admit it in order change.

“I am a fascist “ is the phrase that must be spoken before we can begin to undo the damage of American fascism.

Flip a liberal and you get a fascist. Rock concerts and mass demonstrations are great at exhibiting this latent tendency. It is more about becoming the thing you were trained to fear most. WWII was the war to rid the world of fascism and many kids of the next generation became exactly that. The democratic personality — not fearing fear but fearing fascism — becomes through its supposed “openness,” through its fear of being accused of fascism, that vary thing in the end. It will brook no criticism.
