A great pick. Have to admit that I did not want McCain to pick either Romney or Huckabee, as that 2nd tier race got to be pretty bitter. I could see the Huckabee folks staying home with a Romney pick and vice versa for a Huckabee pick. McCain threaded that needle very well by picking someone that both sides of that divide can get behind. I'm also pleased that he picked someone who is unapologetically pro-life. It shows that his performance at Saddleback was the real deal and not just pandering. I think McCain not only solidified the conservative base (soreheads on FR notwithstanding) but also will make further inroads with the PUMAs with this pick.

I have to admit that I was not real happy with McCain winning the nomination, but his campaign has been firing on all cylinders here lately and he's got me more excited about his candidacy than I had thought I would be.

No way in Hell was McCain going to pick someone who'd shared the stage with him in the GOP debates. Once he settled on the tactic of using Dem soundclips against Obama, he couldn't give them the opportunity to do the same to him.

Not much talk about Obama’s speech in the MSM now. Masterfully done....the campaign kept the buzz going all last night and has trumped the Messiah’s “I have a spending dream” speech.
