BERKELEY, CA (KGO) -- The final showdown is unfolding at UC Berkeley. As campus police move in on the tree sitters occupying the last of the remaining trees. There have been many violent confrontations between police and protestors.
Objects thrown, weapons drawn, people arrested - it's all going down right now at UC Berkeley. Campus police in a cherry-picker are actively trying to get the tree sitters down from their perch in a redwood tree. A dramatic ending to the nearly two-year protest over the removal of trees to build a new university sports complex.

Frankly, it’s about damned time these universities established their authority .. they have been letting the inmates run the asylum straight down the tubes for forty years. Enough (even if it takes an athletic stadium as catalyst)!
I find it funny that they are taking the tree down as they make their way up to the hippies.
A little hard to tell who are the cops vs the perps except for the dude in the crows nest. He is an escapee from a mental institution - did you in the close up the construction techniques of the crows nest?

They just showed a close-up of the two lower guys and they look like tree sitters.
The guy in the basket on top will probably be the last to be extracted, although you’d think the scaffolding would be getting pretty rickety as they approach the top.
OK... now I’m a little confused... I just saw a closeup of the bottom guy... he seems to be wearing a cloth over his head... I’m guessing there are 4 Obama voters up on that tree now...
And books are just literary distractions and concerts are just musical distractions.
I get your point: trees are nice. But on a university campus, land is at a premium. Sports arenas, libraries, and concert halls are all part of a modern university, and they're not "stupid."
Now as for your point about the government stealing our freedoms and our money, you'll get no argument from me. ;)
On the last close up it looked like branch dude and trunk dude were barefoot.
