If something like this was underground on Mars maybe we would never find out about it. Apparently the interior of Mars is less active (and presumably colder) than the interior of Earth so maybe there’s nothing similar there.

Now a study finds that the brains of some patients with brain injuries respond to an unpleasant electrical shock much as do the brains of healthy people.

And just be thankful you weren't one of experimental patients being shocked. That must have been a lot of fun for them.< /sarcasm>
