Pitbull Turns on Maverick
NY Post ^ | 10/26/08 | CARL CAMPANILE

Sarah Palin is the rogue elephant in the GOP war room.

The maverick mom is distancing herself from John McCain and blowing off the advice of senior Republican aides, convinced they're damaging her reputation and ruining the campaign.

Things have gotten so tense between Palin and her traveling staff, an insider said, that she's overruling their advice - which was evident last week when she ignored GOP aides piling into waiting cars at a Colorado event and strolled over to the press corps for an impromptu talk.

In speeches, Palin has contradicted her running mate's positions on issues, telling a Christian news outlet last week that she would support a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, which McCain opposes.

Though McCain once said he considered Obama's relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be an old issue, this month Palin said, "I don't know why that association isn't discussed more."

Palin also publicly stated that she thought it was a mistake for the campaign to give up on Michigan, and that she thought voters were annoyed by robocalls - which McCain uses extensively.

The last straw for the vice-presidential candidate was the raft of criticism from the $150,000 worth of high-end clothes the Republican National Committee bought her, a campaign source said.

Palin showed how much that gaffe got under her skin yesterday at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, telling the crowd she'd stepped off the plane and donned a warm, cream-colored jacket.

"And it's my own jacket," she said.

Funny how any off the cuff comment such as her saying, “Aw schucks, do we have to pull out of Michigan.” is a serious split in the McCain campaign, and yet Biden can throw Obama under the bus on a daily basis and it is just “Joe being Joe.”

All this talk about Sarah Palin being mishandled is laughable.

Virtually unknown two months ago, the woman has become a rock star overnight. She is drawing huge crowds everywhere. People get up before dawn, drive vast distances and stand in the rain or the heat for hours just to see and hear her for a couple of minutes.

Singers and actors want to be seen with her. She pulls in massive ratings on any TV show in which she briefly appears. Hollywood wants her for something...ANYTHING! They know a rare precious gem when they see it even if they hate her politics.

What more could anyone expect out of her? My God, she is a political phenomenon never seen before in national politics.

Sarah Palin is lightning in a bottle and some people on this site are trying to argue she's not effective enough.

What do they want?

Is she supposed to walk on water?

Sarah has more political savvy than McCain and his cronies. Obama is so vulnerable on every point and McCain has political ED.

She made this key point a couple times about parts of Obama’s plan, with the emphasis on the last line:

“Our opponent is not being candid with you about his tax plans.

He’s hiding his real agenda of redistributing your hard-earned money.

He said he’s for a tax credit, which is when the government takes more of your money to give it away to someone else according to that politician’s priorities.”

Jim Noble hit it on the head in 33.

“The stakes are high. She’s very dangerous - to all of the powers that be, in both parties.”

John Mc Cain is very lucky that this is the only office that selects two people with one pull of the voting lever. I am voting for SARAH PALIN and Mc Cain gets the benefit of that vote!

I know many other people that feel the same way!

Actually, it would be great if Palin struck out her own. The Republicans would probably be 10% ahead of where they’re at now. I’m so sick of hearing McCain say, “We need to reach out to Republicans, Democrats, and Independence to work together.” Meanwhile Obama is saying, “McCain is out of touch and the Republicans are nasty people.” The Democrats will never work with the Republicans and any Republican who think so should be kicked out of office.

I think Palin is starting to understand what’s happening. She’s only been on the national scene for two months and it just taken her a bit of time to become familiar with how politics are played on a national level. But she’s a smart and savvy lady. I wouldn’t be surprise if there isn’t some element of truth to this story.

Since the campaign is being ran by moderates (sitting in the middle of the road) whoever the highest bidder is. Since Obama has 100,000,000,000,000 he can afford them.

Apparently Sarah is doing something right, this is the 4th or 5th story I’ve seen with the same theme. The msm and their dem masters are in panic mode, even with their phoney polls and slanted reporting it is still a neck and neck race.

You know the aides are like fair weather fans - the minute their team falls behind they leave...

Give me a "T"

Give me an "R"

I love this woman... and I want her to be strong and her own person. McCain agreed that she would be who she is and the press can kiss my arse. She is more like Reagan than anyone that has come along since!

No, she will talk over the enemedia and the rats, directly to the people and they will respond just as they did with Reagan... That is WHY she is so dangerous to anti-American forces.

Ever since John McCain announced that Sarah Pallin was his running mate, the media has put out story after story trying to discredit her. Even Saturday Night Live is doing extra shows with Tina Fey to make people think she’s incompetent and an airhead. I don’t believe any of these stories. They are grasping at straws in any way they can because they are scared of her popularity. I’m surprised they haven’t brought up her sleeping habits or her sex life. I don’t believe anything about Sarah unless I hear it from her own mouth.

I think the campaign aides are trying to reign her in instead of letting Sarah be Sarah..

Do these campaign aides think we are motivated to vote for the agendas being put forward by the aides?

No!

We are motivated by the candidates. The more that Gov. Palin connects directly with the people, the more votes are cast for the McCain-Palin ticket. Voters actually believe those in office will effectively represent us well. That is what gets us to the polls. Do these aides picture themselves as behind-the-scenes puppet-masters. Governor Palin has a proven record of making the hard call from within her own heart and mind.

The job of the aides is to keep information flowing to the decision-maker. They do best when they prevent the decision-maker from being blind-sided.

We Freepers love reports that Gov. Palin is going off of the script, especially if the script comes from those for which we are not voting.

Kudos to Sarah for being Sarah!!
