ELECTION DAY PRAYER THREAD -- MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE!!

Prayer can make a difference. Fear, worry and angst do not and are the tools of the enemy.

Heavenly Father, please forgive our country for the many times we have turned our backs to You and have chosen our own way. Return to us, Oh Lord. Forgive our manifest shortcomings and welcome us back into your fold. Be with our Country as we approach election day and cast this truly momentus vote.

Whatever the result, Lord, keep our eyes and throughts focused on your will and strengthen us to stand in the breach to defend your Church and our love for you.

Forgive our enemies and soften their hardened hearts. Lift the cloud of Satan from their eyes so that they may see the Truth.

Amen

Following is a call to prayer from a black pastor which I posted elsewhere yesterday. IMHO it is very powerful and I am hopeful that many will respond to it.

Dear Fellow Christians,

This is a call to prayer for our nation and for the
upcoming election. Maybe never before in the history of
this nation has there been a more important presidential
election. As of today, just one week before election day,
Obama has a 3-10 point lead in the polls(??). Spiritual
discernment and the facts tell me that Obama is a deceiver,
anti- American, anti-Christian and evil to the core.

Most of us would say “we can do nothing”, but I
am inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and by
people like Pastor Mark Arnold of Ohio, Roy Cash of Texas
and black pastor Dr. James David Manning who give testimony
of the power of God. These men have shown what one man can
do when God is in it. John McCain may not be able to
defeat Obama on his own but God can.

This is our chance to get those prayer chains going
(challenge from Roy Cash of Texas). There are lots of
e-mails floating around about that ask people to pray but I
haven’t seen one that offers a prayer that we can pray
together as one. As my prayer partner (my wife, Peggy) and
I have prayed and fasted, the Holy Spirit has prompted us to
offer a prayer that we can pray as one body.

Please read the very familiar 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Joel 2
(12-17) before you pray.

Agree together as one as we pray this prayer.

OUR GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL HEAVENLY FATHER,
We humbly bow before You and acknowledge You as Almighty
God, Creator of the universe, Sovereign yet loving and
merciful, our Lord and Savior. You have blessed this
country like no other with abundance and freedom. Our
forefathers established this country based on the Word of
God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

We come before You today to confess that as a nation and Your Church, we have sinned against You. Through our apathy and lack of spiritual awareness we have allowed our government to take You out of our schools, courts and our public places. We have allowed abortion to kill millions legally. We have allowed the abomination of homosexuality and sexual perversion to have a place of authority in our society and we have allowed greedy politicians to steal our way of life.

Your Word says that You are a jealous God and there
are consequences for our actions and inactions. Thank You
Jesus that You provided a way out for us through
Your shed blood. You said that if we confess our sins
that You are faithful and just to forgive us and also that
You are merciful, compassionate and slow to anger. Forgive
us Lord, hear our prayer and heal our land. As Your
children we cry out for Your mercy.

The battle for our nation is Yours. Help us Lord to reclaim America for You. We pray for one more chance to be one nation under GOD.

We pray for this upcoming election. For Christians, the
choice is clear. Lord we pray that You would demonstrate
Your power by defying the polls, the liberal press and
crooked politicians. Glorify Yourself and claim the
victory for John McCain and Your “Esther” Sarah
Palin. Lord we pray that You would empower him with the
Holy Spirit to be the “good king” that leads his
people back to You. We ask this in the Name of Jesus and
Blood of Christ

YOU ARE ALMIGHTY GOD! JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, AMEN

We invite you to help us get this prayer out to the four
corners of this nation quickly. If you are an Obama
supporter, please pray about your choice.

Merciful Heavenly Father,

Today we stand before You and are feeling the intense love You have for us. We feel that penetrating Light which lifts us and all for whom we are responsible and this entire nation into the enlightenment and wisdom of Your Son.

Father, we ask that You would direct that intense Love, as a surgical beam of a ruby laser light into this entire spiral and process of our elections tomorrow. You are our only recourse!

Direct that intense Love and cut through those veils of lies upon our brothers and sisters!

Let that Love shining as a ruby laser penetrate into the cause and core of abortion!

Let that laser of your Love penetrate the Lie that those who are promulgating the so called “right to choose” are in fact committing the murders and genocide of our brothers and sisters, especially our minority brothers and sisters!

Let that surgical manifestation of Your Love pierce the Lie of the welfare something-for-nothing mind set!

Cut free by only Your infinite Love all of our people during the final casting of votes and the process of counting them! Pierce and expose those who wish to violate the sanctity of the ballot box!

Blaze that ruby laser light of Your Love into all who are promoting, promulgating and participating in any way, shape or form, all 5th column activities directed against this nation and her people and the cause and core behind it! Scramble the computers and the sinister plots and plans of the Enemies of Light!

Surround Your choice candidates in all races with that intense Love fire so that they are walled off from all the slings and arrows tossed and aimed at them.

Place Your penetrating laser of Love upon all those who are or shall be acting in or as our government at all levels! Let Your intense Love descend upon those who are in office or who are soon going to be taking office. Surround the ones who are Your children and the true servants of our people with Your protection and accelerate them in the Light of your laser-like Love. We especially call forth this intense Light to surround the ones who are the Betrayers. Let this Light so accelerate the darkness into which they have entered that they have no choice but to turn and serve You.

Father, we invoke your mercy and freedom. Echoing the words of Ronald Reagan, we declare before You and all men, “WE ARE KEEPERS OF THE FLAME OF FREEDOM!!”

It is by only Your mercy and freedom that inner pain can be searched out and healed.

It is by only Your mercy and freedom that our hearts and minds can be energized.

It is by only Your mercy and freedom that all can be brought into alignment with Your divine Will.

It is by only Your mercy and freedom that we can have Victory!

Father, in return for that mercy and the continued gift of freedom, we pledge wholeheartedly our intention and determination to continue to hold the vigil for this nation even AFTER the elections, no matter who is placed into office. We are realizing that we are too close to losing the gifts You have given us, and we have much work to do. We ratify the call to prayer of Andy Williams of Chatom, Alabama who admonishes us to be mindful of the consequences of our choices. For we MUST reclaim God's place - YOUR place, our Father, in the public forums and fabric of this nation.

We vow to be silent no longer and accepting of the encroachments upon our faith and liberty. We vow to challenge those who would remove from our public discourse the ability to declare openly the Love in our hearts that we return to You.

Gird us up and help us to fulfill these vows.

Father we are grateful that You hear our petition. We are grateful for the Founding Fathers whom You sent to us. We are grateful for our Uncle Sam and the blessed Constitution.

We ask that this prayer be made perfect and aligned only with Your divine Will. Seal us all in your Light of Love and grant us Your Victory!

Heavenly Father, thank You that we are brought to the place where we acknowledge that we can do nothing ... we are totally and utterly dependent upon You. Legions of evil spirits have been loosed upon our beloved country ... we see them and hear them on all sides. Darkness is quickly approaching and we cannot hold it back, save You, alone.

Have mercy, O Lord ... for the sake of Your beloved Israel, hold back the darkness that is an Obama presidency. Keep us from turning our backs on the apple of Your eye, lest we be cursed:

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

Remember us, O Lord, for the sake of Queen Esther, raised up to save her people. Thank You that Sarah Palin is before us as one who loves You, and who loves us. We stand in the gap for her and John McCain as we cast our ballots ... may Your hand protect the integrity of election ... bring them forth victorious, in the Name of Jesus, we pray.

Look with mercy upon us, O Lord ... we place the Blood of the Lamb upon the door posts of our hearts and our homes, upon our communities and our nation, that the Destroyer would pass by. We repent of personal and corporate sin ... we seek the Holy Spirit to renew us and to fall upon those needing the Truth ... we covet Calm and Compassion as we see our countrymen in need of the Savior.

Merit of our own, we have not. We acknowledge our utter lack ... we acknowledge our utter need. We need You, Jesus. Come and heal our land ... come and heal our land. Amen ...

I received this today via email and it comforts me..

Dear Friends in Christ,

Are you sensing that there is something different about this
presidential election? I was telling someone just recently that it
seems like this election is far more serious than those in the recent
past. Something in my spirit is very uneasy. In the past I have
felt the need to pray for different elections but I have never felt so
strongly the urge to pray, and pray fervently, for an election as I do
for this one. I truly believe that if the wrong person (Obama) is
elected this nation will be changed forever. We may not be able to
undo the things that will be unleashed during an Obama presidency. My
concern about an Obama presidency is not based on politics; it is based
on righteousness.

Look at any of the major moral issues (abortion, homosexuality etc.) and
you will find Obama on the wrong side of the issue, and Palin and McCain
on the right side of the issue. What makes this so disturbing is that
the Obama team has raised far more money than McCain/Palin and the media
is unabashedly supporting Obama with every story and headline they
write. Currently McCain/Palin is behind in the polls and is having a
very difficult time. Some in the media have suggested that the race
is over and there is little or nothing McCain can do to change the
outcome. Oh how wrong they are!

Let me briefly share a story I recently read in 2 Samuel Chapter 5.
David had just become king of Israel and the Philistines went up to wage
war against him. So David inquired of the Lord and said, ‘Shall I go
and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?’ The LORD
said, ‘Yes I will surely hand them over to you.’
So David went and defeated them. He said, ‘As waters break out, the LORD
has broken out against my enemies before me.’ After suffering a
great loss in the first battle the Philistines must have thought they
now knew David defense strategy and they would be ready for him the next
time, because once more the Philistines came up to attack David. So
once again David inquired of the LORD, but this time the Lord gave
different instructions. He said to David, ‘Do not go straight up, but
circle around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam
trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out
in front of you to strike the Philistine army.’ David obeyed the Lord
and was victorious.

This story holds a very important lesson for us at this time. In most
presidential elections a frontal assault, a face-to-face battle, is what
is needed. But this is no ordinary election. McCain is trying all
the normal tactics but he is not prevailing. It seems no matter what
he says or does it is not effective. I am convinced this election
CANNOT be won using normal methods. Just as the Lord told David to go
around behind the enemy and attack him there, so we must go around the
face of this election and wage war where the battle is truly raging.in
the spiritual realm! The fact that the normal physical methods are
not effective this time should tell us that this is a very important
spiritual battle and we can only win by using spiritual
methods.Prayer!

What about the sound of marching in the treetops? What is that? I
have read on the Internet several accounts of fellow Christians being
stirred up in their spirits to pray. Many have been drawn into times of
deep prayer and weeping as they intercede for Palin and McCain. Some
have woke up in the middle of the night and sensed a great need to pray,
other have told of how when they heard about Sarah Palin being chosen as
VP that something came over them and they wept and felt a need to pray
for her and McCain. Many others are feeling the calling and urging of
the Spirit to enter into a time of fervent prayer and fasting for Palin
and McCain and our nation.

What is this unusual stirring that is occurring? I believe it is the
Sound of the Lord marching in the trees, calling his children to act
quickly to pray and fast for Palin and McCain. Think about this, what
would the marching have sounded like to David? It may have sounded
like the rustling of leaves as when wind blows through them, but was
this time something was different and out of the ordinary. Maybe it
was like the sound of the great wind when the Spirit moved on the day of
Pentecost. Also, God’s people are referred to as Trees of Righteous
in Isaiah 61. So the sound of the Lord marching in the treetops in
David’s time is a portrait of the Spirit of the Lord moving among and
stirring up his children today.

So what are we to do when we sense this stirring of the Spirit? Two
things, first we are to take it as the sign that the Lord is moving out
in front of us. Anytime the Lord calls us to do something he goes
ahead of us to prepare the way and fight for us. When Joshua returned
from spying out Jericho the Lord gave him insight to see that the Lord
had removed the Jericho ‘s protection so Israel could defeat them.
When the Lord calls us into battle he goes ahead of us, removes the
enemy’s protection, and fights for us to give us the victory. Secondly,
the Lord tells us when we sense the stirring of the Spirit we are to act
quickly and join Him in the battle (through prayer, fasting, praise and
obedience)

This election is by no means lost. For God would not be stirring up
his children all across this nation and indeed around the world, to
pray, if he did not want to give us the victory in this election. And he
wants us to join him in the battle. God will hear the cries of his
children if we will only cry out to him with fervent, earnest, prayers
for this election and this nation. If those who are being drawn to
prayer by the Spirit will indeed enter into a time of prayer and seeking
His face, then God will have mercy on America spare us from having an
ungodly leader, I’m sure of it!

One more thought, after the last debate, so-called ‘conservative’ David
Brooks gushed about Obama, ‘I thought Obama had the night he needed to
have. You know, through this whole 20 month marathon, I think what
struck me is how incredibly even he is. And how frankly reassuring he
is. It is like you’re camping, and you wake up one morning, and there is
a mountain. And then the next morning, there is a mountain, and there’s
the next morning, there’s a mountain. Obama is just the mountain. He is
just there. He is always the same, he doesn’t hurt himself. McCain can
sometimes lob a cannonball at the mountain, but the mountain doesn’t
move, and the mountain doesn’t care. And so I think his steadiness, his
temperament has been the dramatic theme of this campaign, dramatic in
being undramatic. And it was on display tonight. And the good part of
the mountain is that he is reassuring and reliable.’

I’m really glad he used the word ‘mountain’ to describe Obama. It
caused me to remember what Jesus said about unmovable mountains.
Jesus said, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a
mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’
and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’

And it only takes a little faith!

This election can only be won by going around the face of the election
and attacking the enemy where he is vulnerable, through prayer, fasting
and praise. If you hear the sound of the Lord marching in the tree
tops, if you feel the stirring of the Spirit calling you to pray, then
move quickly into a time of prayer, for God is moving ahead of you at
that time to give us the victory. May God give us ears to hear the
marching!
