At least seven out of ten Obama supporters who were reveling in his coming victory were under the age of 30 — and that’s a conservative estimate. None of these people were even alive when Vietnam, Watergate, assassinations, and riots cleaved us in two, ripping the fabric of our national polity asunder and opening a chasm between the two sides that may — just may — have begun to close with Obama’s victory last night.

His young supporters know little of the Vietnam era and care about it less. And like it or not, and for whatever reason, they see the United States in a different way than their parents. They have the passion (and ignorance) of youth animating their vision of America. It remains to be seen what happens to their faith when Obama’s efforts at reform turn out not quite as earth shattering as they might be hoping...

They used to, but with the complete destruction of decency and standards it was swept out.
Like I said on another thread-if symbolism was all they’re after-I wish we elected Gary Coleman-at least he’d be entertaining for four years.
I’ve spent time (not by choice)among people like Obama as well as the Obama-roids. There’s always a lot of big talk and hootin’ and hollerin’- Loud boasts. Pie in the sky.
Then comes the time to actually do the work.
Then comes the bad performance or non-performance.
Then comes the excuses.
Then comes the anger and accusations.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Yawn. Wake me in four years.
One teacher told me she loves communists and Stalin, ***STALIN***, had to kill the 60 million people because he was a fascist and not really a communist. And of course, there is the tired old argument that even though socialism only works "on paper" it hasn't really been tried and it needs the appropriate environment.
I have a similar, but different suggestion for tax day/election day -
Taxes due on Halloween - Oct 31st.
Election day can remain where it is.

The 19 yr. old & 15 yr. old are definitely right wingers.
I explained socialism to the younger ones using Rush’s trick or treat analogy (giving half the treats to lazy asses who wouldn’t go door to door knowing they could mooch off your stash.)
7 yr. old came home disappointed Obama won the classroom election - said McCain was a brave soldier.
Let’s take THIS and add THAT. Love it!

With this election bought and paid for by outside influences, and the complicit msm, and with the damage pelosi, reid and bho will do in the next 2-4 years with rigging election laws we may have seen the last Republican President G W Bush in our life times.

I’ve been thinking for quite a while that the country was ready for a strongman. The only question was which side would he come from.

I have met a large number of people your age and younger who ‘get it’. Most are military vets, military brats or home schooled. I have hope for turning this mess around, but it will be up to those in your age group to educate the ignorant among your peers.
Youngsters have never listened to silver haired old farts like me. (I know I didn’t)
