I've lived in a thrid world country for the past five years and I will NOT emulate that way of life on my own turf in my own country.

This article rubs me the wrong way. I don't need the MSM telling me how to live. That said, here's some non-PC additions:
Cancel your subscription to the Press Democrat newspaper and all other propaganda publications.
Buy a big car, SUV, or truck: the prices for these are much cheaper now than the extra gas will cost and the increased safety in an accident is priceless.
Buy a rifle and keep your hunting skills in top shape. Learn how to kill a large pig with one shot.
Keep your grass green and the exterior of your house in top condition. It will spur any Democrat neighbors to try to out do you increasing your property values.
Lie to your Democrat neighbors about going out to eat at restaurants ordering steak dinners often. It will spur them to keep up and help keep your favorite restaurants in business.
Similarly ask for extra bags when you go to big retailers to advertise that you've been shopping. Keep them fresh and use them to carry things everywhere you go.
Do not promote money saving ideas to others, save them for yourself. It's one thing to be frugal, it's another to try to turn America into Cuba.
