McCain meets Obama, gets no job offer...[NOTE: GOP Turnout numbers]
LA TIMES ^ | 11-17-08 | Malcolm

Well, we know John McCain is unlikely to be named Barack Obama's White House chief of staff since Rahm Emanuel is already there, talking nice and cutting throats in true Chicago style.

But the meeting of the recent rivals in the Windy City did seem to go well today, at least in public. Which is what really matters in all this symbolic hoo-haa of a new administration's formation.

This meeting was briefly public, very public, with a trio of U.S. flags to prove it in Obama's downtown Chicago transition office. As opposed to the president-elect's more recent secretive meetings with Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson as he seeks under the guidance of John Podesta to rebuild the Clinton administration as part of all the promised Obama change to believe in. [snip]

As Karl Rove pointed out in his Wall Street Journal column last week, 4.1 million fewer Republicans bothered to vote for their party's presidential candidate Nov. 4 than in 2004, 2.7 million fewer veterans (even for a fellow vet) and 4.1 million fewer regular church-goers.

Even in Ohio, without which Republicans do not win the White House, Obama got 32,000 less votes than John Kerry did in 2004. But McCain did worse, getting 360,000 fewer Republican votes there than George W. Bush, thus losing the crucial state by a decisive 206,000 ballots.

Such internal numbers have quietly and quickly created a GOP cadre of believers that the Nov. 4 results were less an Obama win, despite his modest but cumulatively decisive gains in numerous voter sectors, and more a McCain loss among true GOP believers. They switched sides this time or, worse, stayed home, despite the initially explosively successful gesture toward conservatives of picking Sarah Palin as his VP.

GOP doesn't have to go after socialist voters by offering bigger handouts--GOP has to give American voters something to believe in and vote for- in Gov. Palin's words "pro-Americans".

I was refused to believe that Republicans will stay home on Elections Day just to spite McCain and let Obama win. I was very wrong and I am so sad and so disappointed because they stayed home.

I find this tremendously infuriating. We oughta be trying to beat this jerk— not help him succeed. He’s going to screw America either way.

yup.
curious enough the numbers. how do they work out? had the same amount of republicans and the same amount of vets that voted in 04 had voted mccain, would we have beat “the one” despite the massive ACORN fraud?

When one considers Pawlenty it is rather instructive to remember that he comes from a state that previously elected a former professional wrestler and is considering a pervert/comedian. Where does Tim fit into that equation?

I regret you having to see the true face of the American Sheep, JV.

They have broken faith with their soldiers, and with their own laws and legacy. Willingly so.

My tagline says it best.

in Gov. Palin's words "pro-Americans"

If the times are getting as extreme as they seem to be with a "President BHO," I think it is time for all of us to shelve the terms conservatism, conservative for awhile and speaking of Americanism and Americanist.

McCain meets Obama, gets no job offer...

Oh, I'm not so sure that a "job" wasn't performed during the three debates.

0bama patted McRINO's on the head, got an "atta boy" from Hussein, and watched McCain crawl back to his Hertz Ford Taurus rent-a-car.

If Obama had any balls, he’d offer Sarah Palin a cabinet level job, say Secy of Energy. He could either have her under his thumb or play the victim when she refused it.

This board is a microcosm of conservative thought, and there have been lots of people on here for months publicly stating they would not vote this year.

"I am so sad and so disappointed"

Try going the blood angry and guts motivated route. Won't make you feel any better but will make them feel worse.

Yes- Gov. Palin should have never backed off- defensively. “Pro-American” means Jeffersonian democracy as oppsoed to European/American socialism.

It is time for the STUPID republicans to PLAY THE CONSERVATIVE CARD!!! Get off their butts and play the conservative card at every turn. Toss out the McCain and Graham RINOs. Get rid of every RINO. Make every senator and congresscritter sign a Oath to Conservatism or RESIGN. We have had enough of RINOs. If they want to be liberal, then quit and go join the Marxists. They are NOT doing their DUTY to us.

I wouldn't be surprised if 4 million stayed home solely because of the MSM push a few days before the election to proclaim that Hussein had already won.

Well, it's the way of John McCain. I think he feels more comfortable with Democrats than people in the Republican party. If a Republican wants to play Democrat, then go join the Democrat party. We don't need political Democrats changing the Republican party with socialist drivel.

Hi Old Sarge

I became a very proud American Citizen this past June and I will never be ashamed of being an American, not under any circumstances. I understand your frustration but we should always believe that we are the greatest nation in history of mankind even if the public made the wrong choice this elections. In a democracy one party cannot win elections all the time and in 2008 we lost. However we lost because millions of our people stayed home and that it is why it is a bitter loss and hard to swallow. However life goes on, and despite our defeat we will always work very hard on keeping our beloved America the greatest nation ever and we should work harder next time to win.

God bless America.
