I would be more inclined to attribute dry weather to colder climate. I would be more interested in knowing the relationship to outbreaks of plague and climate shifts. To me, we are concentrating on the wrong problem. Back in the 90s there were outbreaks of Hanta virus in the Southwest. But, I suppose, eradicating a virus may be stepping on someone’s sacred cow.

These people would not have observed and recorded their observations of climate change that was supposedly bringing down their empire?
