Dan Walker wasn’t charged with anything related to him being governor. It happened 10 years after that.

“..which it defined as the total number of public corruption convictions from 1997 to 2006 per 100,000 residents.”
WELL, this immediately brings these statistics into question. As it is not unheard of for COURTS to be corrupt in corrupt states, the fact that the corruption CONVICTION rate in one state is lower than in another may be misleading.
Having New Jersey as MERELY #9 in this list arouses immediate suspicion. It should AT LEAST make the top three in REAL corruption. But here the crooks also appoint the judges.

A1. Why not?
A2. It’s a family tradition.
A3. I’m shocked, SHOCKED to discover corruption in Illinois.

My accountant was once the state treasurer of Illinois. State treasurers could only serve for one term so they couldn’t set up illegal scams. There must be something in the ground water.

IMO the only shocked people are Democrats. Perhaps also conservatives that are shocked that the corruption wasn’t covered up.

More liberal "unintended consequences"...The Kenyan focused the national spotlight onto Illinois...now, live with it.

Because Illinois is basically “Chicago” and its suburbs. The rest of the state is too rural to make much difference......

"The scandal involving Otto Kerner Jr., for example, only came to light because one of the participants deducted the value of bribes paid in the 1960s--to win freeway exits and other favorable treatment for her horsetrackin her income tax returns. The logic was that the payments were simply a part of doing business in Illinois."The way I read this is that Illinois politicians aren't any more corrupt than anywhere else, but they are a lot more stupid!

The mob took over Chicago during Prohibition and never gave it back. As Chicago goes, goes Illinois due to it's size and influence on the state.
