The Eritrean people are not in need of any religion from foreigners: EOC Patriarch

His Holiness Abune Dioskoros, Patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church, who is currently in Europe on spiritual visit, said that the Eritrea people have religions of their own dating back to centuries on the basis of which they have been coexisting in peace and harmony. And as such, they are not in need of any religion from foreigners, he elaborated.

During his stay in the Italian city of Milan from December 5 to 8, the Patriarch was accorded warm welcome by heads of the Office of the Eritrean Consul General, the Synod of the St. Mary Church and a number of the faithful in the cities of Milan and Bologna.

His Holiness Abune Dioskoros, along with bishops and priests, conducted prayers and called for the Eritrean people to reinforce the cherished values of love, mutual care and tolerance, thus bequeathing the love of God and Nation to future generations.

It's interesting that Abune Dioskoros was put in place NOT by the Synod of Bishops of the Eritrean Orthodox Tawahedo Church, but by the Eritrean Government. The legitimate Patriarch, Abune Paulos, is still in prison in Eritrea because he would not bow down to the government and also Abune Paulos protested priests being drafted into the Eritrean Army and put into combat positions.

So it's quite evident (but not a foregone conclusion) that Abune Diskoros is a puppet of the government. This is Orthodoxy's biggest weakness. Orthodox Churches become "National Churches" and once the government gets control of the patriarchate or the synod of bishops, the government gets control of the Church.
ERITREA does NOT need "religions from foreigners" ?

These were the words of the genocidal Eritrean government from its website... The anti-Israel and pro-Iran nazi government of Eritrea is introducing the world to the genocidal and sick mind of Dictator Isaias and his cadres once again... Eritrean Orthodox Abune Dioskoros... was appointed by Dictator isayas after the dictator imprisoned the real Patriarch... is not even the legal one... The international community should differentiate between random human rights abuses and planned human rights abuses since these Eritrean government statements indicate an ideology... Since the Eritrean government has already ethnic cleansed the ethnic Kunama people and has already jailed, killed or tortured thousands of Eritrean evangelicals, these statements coming out of Eritrea should be a warning sign to the world and an indication that the jailing, torture, genocide and killings in Eritrea are systematical and ideologically backed... For Eritreans, it is back to slavery. The Asmara university built and developed by Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie is closed today and various military "colleges" are built in Eritrea to support the dictator. Just like during Mengistu era, there is no private media in Eritrea today. Just like Mengistu era, opposition political parties are not allowed today under Dictator Isaias... The UN says over half the Eritrean population needs food aid but the "proud" Eritrean government is acting the same like the "proud" Mengistu who denied food aid to his people. How hard can it be to govern and feed a small country of only 4 million people? Today, Eritrea has the slowest growing GDP in Africa and has a genocidal government with a sick ideology. SIMPLY put, the Eritrean people today have a dictator that has become worse than dictator Mengistu but just like some sick people supported Mengistu, there are some stubborn Eritreans who still support the Eritrean dictator Isaias.

Cool. We’re not in need of any Eritrean “refugees” here in the US.

Eritrea: Complete Mayhem In "Tripartite Meeting"
by Berhane M Tekeste
After trashing the national constitution as only a piece of paper and dismissing any elections, Eritrea ruler Iseyas Afawarki assumed tyrannical grip on our country Eritrea by the barrel of the gun. Then, ruler Afawarki turned the country's six 'administrative zones' into his control regions to each of which he single-handedly picked and assigned zonal administrators and military commanders that he for sure knew were loyal enough to to trust them with perpetuating tyranny. This tyrannical scheme was then complemented by yet another control group that Afawarki again single-handedly picked and dubbed 'cabinet ministers', about 31 of them. That completes the make up and nature of the 'tripartite assembly' and with it also that of the ruling tyrannical oligarchy :1) Zonal administrators, 2) zonal commanders, and 3) cabinet ministers. That is the face of the brutal rule of the utter minority (40+) over the absolute majority (Millions) that the people of Eritrea have been subjected to.

And I understand these people are Christians. We still need none of them here.

I know an Eritrean that has been here for twenty years.

In all fairness I haven't spoken with him in several years. He may be naturalized now. It one time he professed that he intended to return home but the periodic social and political turmoil may have caused a greater allegiance to America.

I would rather have Eritrean Christians over Somali Muslims any day.

Mexicans are Christians, too.

We've seen how the illegal types have worked out.

No English? No skills? No visa for US residency.

Some are, some aren’t. ALL Eritrean Christians are...Christians, however.

“We’ve seen how the illegal types have worked out.”

I am talking about legal immigration.

“No English? No skills? No visa for US residency.”

Nonsense. 1) Most of our ancestors did NOT speak English when they came here. ALL immigrants should have to learn English once here, however. 2) We need unskilled workers as much as highly educated ones. The average landscaping company needs people who can push a mower more than they need college graduates.

And, of course, most of our ancestors had few well developed skills other than farming or factory work.
