Hundreds Rally in Houston Against Gaza Attacks
Houston Chronicle ^ | 28 DEC 2008 | JEANNIE KEVER

Posted on 12/28/2008 8:52:49 PM PST by Uhaul

Hundreds of people lined the busiest intersection near the Galleria on Sunday, chanting and waving Palestinian flags to protest the Israeli bombing in Gaza.

"People are very upset, obviously. They are angry," said Said Fattouh, host of the radio talk show Arab Voices. "Nobody knows when it will stop."

The protest grew spontaneously, with several Arab-American organizations spreading the word. People said they heard about it through e-mail, text messages and telephone calls and traveled to the intersection of Westheimer and Post Oak to participate.

Members of the Houston Coalition for Justice Not War said they would hold a second protest at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Israeli Consulate.

Many Palestinians in the crowd on Sunday said the news from friends and family who live in Gaza has been bleak.

"It's really bad," said Sahar Abusada, who grew up in Gaza and had spoken to family members earlier Sunday. "Blood. Bodies. No food. No electricity."

Israel said it attacked to stop leaders in Gaza, ruled by the militant group Hamas, from stockpiling weapons. Israel pulled out of the area in 2005 after occupying it for almost 40 years, but it still controls the borders.

Rami Kouni said he suspects most Americans have paid little attention to the attacks.

"The people driving by, they don't see what's going on," he said. "Maybe now they will pay attention."

Other people in the crowd — teenagers, young couples with babies, older men and women — said they came to support the Palestinians living in Gaza.

A few people stepped out of a nearby Starbucks to snap photos, but most said they had no opinion on the protest or the conflict. "It's complicated on both sides," one man said.

What do these fools expect that Israel would do with the crazies in Gaza firing hundreds of rockets miles into Israel?

One of the comments at the article said “too bad Israel doesn’t have a missile that can reach the Galleria.”

The protest grew spontaneously

There was a terror apologist on Fox earlier. The fembot anchor couldn't spell "Middle East" and therefore couldn't challenge the idiot. He spoke of the "40 year continuing occupation of Gaza". She never pointed out that Israel pulled out of Gaza long ago.

I'm sure they are - my rabid, right wing comments probably have me on a variety of watch lists.

Where were these people when Israel was being attacked by Hamas rockets? I am so sick and tired of Israel being portrayed as the bad guy. It’s time Israel takes out the trash and to Hell with world opinion especially from Muslims and lefties in the UN and media.

The Marxist rally organizers love it when Israel reluctantly and finally fights back against the dispicable Palestinian mass murderers. The Marxists and the terrorists they back jump at the chance to put their disinformation propaganda campaign into practice. The terrorists bomb Israeli civilians daily for years and when Israel tries of stop them, then the low-life Marxists are Johnny on the spot to rally and try to convince the media that the mass murderers are “victims.”

That starts on January 20th at noon.

Give them all a one-way ticket to Gaza. Let them fight the Israeli there, and see how tough they are. Get them out of the USA. I am getting sick of all these demonstrations

“Nobody knows when it will stop.”

I know when it will stop: it will stop when Hamas stops rocketing Israel. What do they expect will happen when they send in Rockets? I am looking forward to the car swarm photos.

You are saying exactly what I’ve been saying the past few years. If I were president I would offer Israel discounts on weapons in proportion of the number of attacks they receive. I’d also put together a mutual defense treaty with them for the next 300 years.

The picketing fools want Israel to lie down, belly up, and just wait for some more rocket attacks from Gaza.

Israel should send the bombs to Gaza until they swear that they never again will attack a neighbor.

"Nobody knows when it will stop."

Hopefully, not until Israel has finished what they started out to do. Kill all Hamas members, and other terrorists who join them.

As far as the protesters in Houston go, this would be a good time for our government to round them up and ship them back to the country of their origin. They better be glad that we have a lover of the ROP in the White House, because if I were in charge they would all be deported! Even the ones who are now citizens. lol.. I've grown tired of all the whining from CAIR and other Muslims who constantly cry about EVERYTHING.

Jeesh, I see the Houston Chronicle doesn’t have even one line about how Hamas has been shelling Israel with rockets these past few weeks.

Not right to simply leave out a very pertinent fact.

Hamas has been shelling Israel with rockets these past few weeks.

The rockets have been almost non-stop during the "cease-fire."
