I’ve been following this for the past four days. What is happening there is NOT normal. Lots of what appears to be harmonic tremors (magma movement). From what I’ve read, some of the seismologists and vulcanologists are getting very interested in what is happening.

That’s why some of those scientists have relocated to the East Coast.

The seismograph at Yellowstone Lake has been shaking more or less nonstop for several hours now in minor tremors.

Well, of course they're interested! They're vulcanologists! It's what they do!

And they have the added benefit of spending the new year plying their trade here in the U.S. as opposed to some third-world sh*thole!

I looked at the old seismograms from December 29th and they showed periods of a few hours of the same kind of readings that people here are speculating are harmonic tremors. I don’t know if they are or not, but I tend to think not since these seismograms are public info and I think we’d have heard about it in the media if harmonic tremors had been present for the past couple of days.

If this is a pending eruption, the good news is that it appears to be pretty localized which suggests that any eruption will be limited, which is very much the norm. There are something like 50 “regular” eruptions at Yellowstone for every super-eruption. So don’t jump off any bridges if you hear there has been an eruption.
