I couldn't be more pleased to see his name being mentioned in so many articles lately because his paper on the method used by he and his colleagues to trace the possible in fall of cosmic rays to low cloud development, particularly during Solar Minimum (when the Sun's magnetic field weakens and allows for as much as a 50 percent increase in the occurrence of cosmic rays in the inner solar system) was ground breaking. Though he, again, drew no conclusion, and even was clear about the difficulties of doing a census of low clouds in the tropics, the same Green Party claptrap that evokes Svalmark and ignores his remmmainh pfqualification and quotes some unnamed tenured button sorter without attribution and invariably adding the "but most scientists disagree," etc. Svalmark just chuckles. He is remarkable. He is the exception to the part of former New Mexico Senator Harrison Schmitt's resignation from the Planetary Society in October, when he wrote, "TPS Statement * accelerating research into global climate change through more comprehensive Earth observations "---As a geologist, I love Earth observations. But, it is ridiculous to tie this objective to a "consensus" that humans are causing global warming when human experience, geologic data and history, and current cooling can argue otherwise. "Consensus", as many have said, merely represents the absence of definitive science. You know as well as I, the "global warming scare" is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making. It has no place in the Society's activities.

I have little doubt that the severity of our winter (mainly anomalously cold and deep upper lows) is correlated even if it doesn't have much effect on the "global average temperature".

Huh, well, I guess it's time for a cosmic ray tax, or a "ray and trade" plan which encourages energetic cosmic ray sources to buy "cosmic credits" to reduce their "cosmic footprint".

To begin with, recently there was a 'documentary' where a certain 'scientist' was very insistent that there was a BLACK HOLE inthe ocean off the coast of Florida simply because his scientific instruments detected gravometric anomolaties at certain spots while driving his boat around the area. Well DUH, I recon if there was was an actual BLACK HOLE on earth then we'd all be sucked into it by now since that is its primary characteristics!!
The second booby prize goes to another Global Warming zealot who was trying to find a way to send off TRILLIONS of refracting lenses into space in front of the earth orbit so that these will lessen the amount of sunlight hitting the earth and thereby slow global warming!!
The projected cost (hold on here) would be in the region of some $50 trillion dollars ($50,000,000,000,000) over 25 years and would require almost the entire planet's GDP to finance it!! He reasoned that any amount is worth it to save the planet, however that assumes that GLobal Warming is gospel truth which it is not!!
