That doesn’t preclude hybridization. Again, if they are from the same kind, this poses no problem at all.

Good point. There is also another possibility. Namely, that they traversed across modern-day Siberia and crossed the land-bridge across the Bering Strait. Who knows...but you have certainly piqued my curiosity.
