WASHINGTON – Millions of older people face shrinking Social Security checks next year, the first time in a generation that payments would not rise.

No COLA for the next two years for Social Security. I guess illegals need the money more. Boy granny and grandpa are sure gettin screwed by Hole & change. I hope they don't get "all we weed up!"

The COLA is based on the consumer price index and it has dropped from last year to this primarily because last year it was right in the middle of the gasoline and natural gas price bubbles. I didn't hear seniors complaining about the 5.8% COLA last year.

I feel their pain. My I-bonds are going to 0% interest. However, I was pretty happy last half-year when the rate was over 8%.

Will this be blamed on Obama? The formulas in existing law indicate that they don’t get a cost of living raise.

What a deal! You issue a note with its interest rate determined, semi-annually, by YOU! You control the "formula" by which the interest rate will be set and "adjust" the formula regularly! But hey..., it is backed by the "Full Faith and Credit" of the USA (just like your dollars!)
