Kirk probably hopes that, during the primary, conservatives will remember what he did during the previous six months and forget that he’s usually pro-spending increases, pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-illegal alien, and pro-gun control.
That union IS acorn.
I agree if Kirk is strong on this issue we should welcome it even if he's a RINO on other issues. For example, many freepers despise John McCain but I do think McCain deserves credit for his years of opposition to pork barrel spending and his generally staunch support for winning the WOT. Likewise Congressman Chris Smith is a squishy cap n' trade RINO but he's ALWAYS been 100% solid on the life issue so I welcome his support during abortion battles.
The problem here is that Kirk's track record shows he is NOT good on this issue -- he's never stood up against Obama's corrupt ties in the past. As I and others have pointed out, it appears Kirk is NOT being sincere here and is only doing this to build up his "anti-Obama" and "anti-corruption" resume with conservatives so he woo them over in the primary after the fallout from his cap-n-trade vote. Once the primary is over, Kirk will go back to defending Obama and swooning over everything he does. Also as I noted earlier on this thread, Kirk's Chicago machine Democrat opponent likewise claims to be "in favor" of having the government sever all ties to ACORN and its associates. Anyone who knows anything about Alexi Giannoulias knows he's a close personal chum of Obama and knee deep in corruption. I'd trust him as far I could throw him.
Maybe you feel good temporarily having Kirk on "our side" against SEIU and ACORN, but don't get too cozy and expect him to "deliver" for us on standing up against RAT organization corruption as a U.S. Senator. You welcome Kirk, Giannoulias, or "Barney Frank" as you say, to help out on an issue because they're conveniently on "our side" today, and they'll betray you on that same issue tomorrow. Kirk cannot be trusted and his record proves it.
OMG .. when I saw the headline I was incredulous, thinking it referred to the newly appointed Senator from Massachussetts, Paul Kirk.
