Reid HC Bill -- CBO says will cost 849 BILLION over 10 years

How much of the bill has been put in another bill which isn't included in this one? You know, that little shell game the House pulled too?

I want to see the bill NOW, you little sleaze, Harry Reid! I don't believe a word you say!

Double post. Pad on my Gatewu is way too sensitive. Sorry

Color me jealous. I've always wanted a Gatewu. What kind of gas mileage do you get with it?

We hear this line parroted on here alot, most from folks who hear it from someone else and not having the slightest understanding of the parliamentary procedures in the Senate. It's getting tiresome and some of you should look and listen rather than post unless you actually know what is entailed in using the “Nuclear Option”. It's not some trick that can be invoked willy nilly and is fraught with all kinds of other parliamentary tricks that could be used against it. In theory could it work to get some massive entitlement passed, sure, but then again I could run into Cindy Crawford getting dinner and she could want to snogger with me. Plus the consensus is that the Senate will not go this route, not enough Senators want to open that ball of whoop as*. So can we talk about real plausible scenarios, not wild musings of cranks and MSM wish-casters wanting Obamacare to pass.

Since 2000 our population has increased by 27 million people. It will easily increase by about 30 million over the next 10 years. I wonder if the 31 million number reflects the projected population increase.

Senator Jim Demint probably knows the procedures better than all of us and he agrees with the analysis by FReeper xkaydet65. He says if this gets to the floor, it’s over.

Harry Reid peddled this lie, too:

Today, unemployment stands at 10.2% and is rising. He and Hussein are EPIC FAILS.

You know the media will not tell the truth about these two boobs, though.

So, another Trillion dollars and 16 million people still won’t have healthcare (47 million Dems claim - 31 million to be covered.

I could pull a cost out of my ass better than the CBO and Hairy Screed... 50 trillion dollars over 10 years

Bet I’m closer.

It involves a vote to change the rules of the Senate on voting for cloture. In this case it involves a single vote, not as in the past a permanent change from 2/3 to 60 votes. As the filibusters of my youth involved 67 yes votes to call for cloture.

Of course this is fraught with consequences. The maneuver can be used against the Dems if they are in the minority. But there is a belief on the far left that healthcare will solidify Dem support among more than enough of the voting public so as to never be in the minority again. It's been a truism of the left Dems since Harry Hopkins and the New Deal chortled, "Tax tax tax. Spend spend spend. Elect elect elect." A party with that thought process may not be in fear of the consequences you cite.

DeMint: Americans Won’t Be Fooled by Democrat Shell Game, a Vote to Proceed is a Vote for a Government Takeover of Health Care

November 17, 2009 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement:

“Let’s be clear: Any senator who votes to proceed to this bill is voting for a government takeover of health care. Senators who hide behind procedure and claim they just want to allow for debate are not being honest, they are trying to deceive their voters while helping to pass this terrible bill that will make health care more expensive.

“Earlier today, Democrat leaders told reporters that the Senate may vote to proceed to a shell bill, not related to health care reform, in an effort to grant the President’s wish for a government takeover of our nation’s health care by Christmas. These outrageous shell games won’t fool Americans. Voters will remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover.”

“President Obama and Democrats have now put forward at least four different versions of their government takeover, and Harry Reid has been secretly working behind closed doors on the fifth act of this fiasco. But despite the nuances, every Democrat bill puts Washington in control of health care, slashes Medicare coverage for seniors, raises premiums for families, raises taxes, places bureaucrats between patients and doctors, punishes young adults who choose not to buy coverage, and opens the door to government rationing of care.

“Americans have loudly and repeatedly rejected the President’s government takeover of health care. It’s time to for the Senate to listen, stop the shell games, and start over with real solutions that will provide every American the opportunity to afford, own and keep a health care plan that best meets their needs.”

Thanks Former Military Chick....

Here's another gem I just let loose with on another thread about phantom House districts in MN (and 700 phantom districts throughout the country) receiving billions of dollars in Porkulus funds and supposedly jobs created for disticts that don't exist.

I just called Sen Al Frankens Washington DC office for the first time... I started off by telling the guy on the other end, what an embarrassment it is to call and hear “Senator Al Franken’s office” on the other end. Ohhh Well, at least the guy didn’t hang up on me. And then I proceeded to rip into him for the phantom districts receiving porkulus money and followed by “Now the federal government wants to be in charge of our health car”? I hope this throws a major wrench into the Gubmints plan to take over HealthCare & destroy our country further. God help our formerly great nation. I hate the socialist bastards led by 0bozo & his band of devious thugs.

CBO: Senate health plan to cost $849 billion MSNBC ^ | November 18, 2009

Measure would add coverage for 31 million, reduce deficit over 10 years

Health care legislation heading for the Senate floor this week would extend coverage to 31 million uninsured Americans at a cost of $849 billion over a decade, according to congressional budget experts.

As rank-and-file Democrats gathered Wednesday to learn details of the long-awaited bill, the Congressional Budget Office also estimated the legislation would reduce federal deficits by a total of $127 billion over that decade, NBC News reported.

The budget agency also projected that the legislation would cover 94 percent of Americans.

The political stakes were enormous as Majority Leader Harry Reid summoned fellow Democrats to a closed-door meeting to brief them on the legislation. It is being crafted to fulfill President Barack Obama’s goal of expanding coverage to the uninsured, banning industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions and slowing the growth of health care costs nationwide.

[Snip]

Reid hopes to put the legislation on track toward a floor debate within days.

Health care allies around Washington were alerted that Reid and top Senate Democrats planned to hold a Capitol Hill rally for the bill at noon Thursday.

I can't imagine hearing his name when they answer the call. I applaud your attempt to voice anger over this bill, one wonder's how much credit they give your call but I say call, ask other’s to call and continue to do so until your voice is gone or they change tactics and the bill stops in it's tracks. Amazing things can be done when folks band together for a common cause.

The spending must stop and because the CBO estimate says 849 that doesn't mean you should spend. It is like telling a child we are on a budget but because you have the extra dollar you say pick up the candy bar, it makes the child feel good, makes the parent feel good but teaches nothing about fiscal responsibility.

Great post friend!!

Getting it to the floor is tantamount to getting it voted in according to Jim DeMint.

They're betting the farm.....

.....We all lose if they win.

Even they will lose, but they are too dim to see it yet.
