University of East Anglia Statements
University of East Anglia website ^ | Nov. 24, 2009 | Professor Trevor Davies

Posted on 11/24/2009 9:09:51 PM PST by 4horses+amule

The University of East Anglia has released statements from Prof Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Prof Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit, and from CRU.

Statement from Professor Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research

The publication of a selection of the emails and data stolen from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) has led to some questioning of the climate science research published by CRU and others. There is nothing in the stolen material which indicates that peer-reviewed publications by CRU, and others, on the nature of global warming and related climate change are not of the highest-quality of scientific investigation and interpretation. CRU’s peer-reviewed publications are consistent with, and have contributed to, the overwhelming scientific consensus that the climate is being strongly influenced by human activity. The interactions of the atmosphere, oceans, land, and ice mean that the strongly-increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere do not produce a uniform year-on-year increase in global temperature. On time-scales of 5-10 years, however, there is a broad scientific consensus that the Earth will continue to warm, with attendant changes in the climate, for the foreseeable future. It is important, for all countries, that this warming is slowed down, through substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the most dangerous impacts of climate change. Respected international research groups, using other data sets, have come to the same conclusion.

The University of East Anglia and CRU are committed to scientific integrity, open debate and enhancing understanding. ...The publication of a selection of stolen data is the latest example of a sustained and, in some instances, a vexatious campaign which may have been designed to distract from reasoned debate...

Saw Begley earlier today.

I thought someone from FNC was going to have to “dart gun” him.

Just my take on Professor Trevor Davies

That's the professor? Funny, it looks just like a steaming pile.

Yes — here is the text from “Climategate: the final nail in the coffin of ‘Anthropogenic Global Warming’?” (Telegraph.Co.Uk)

And, perhaps most reprehensibly, a long series of communications discussing how best to squeeze dissenting scientists out of the peer review process. How, in other words, to create a scientific climate in which anyone who disagrees with AGW can be written off as a crank, whose views do not have a scrap of authority.

“This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the “peer-reviewed literature”. Obviously, they found a solution to that–take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering “Climate Research” as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…What do others think?”

“I will be emailing the journal to tell them I’m having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor.”“It results from this journal having a number of editors. The responsible one for this is a well-known skeptic in NZ. He has let a few papers through by Michaels and Gray in the past. I’ve had words with Hans von Storch about this, but got nowhere. Another thing to discuss in Nice !”

They should be doing jail time especially their contacts here in the US.

I suppose Gitmo is out of the question? Too bad really but then again 10 - 15 years in Anarctica would be a nice touch, no? The fact that most Americans aren't even aware of the chicanery these dirtbags have tried to pull off is probably the most troubling thing about this sordid mess.

20 years in Afganistan or some other third-world cesspool would do. In fact, the US Congress should go there for a few years to see what the real world is like outside of DC. LOL

and the emphasis upon establishing a security system which can't be hacked.

Well, that sounds like a feign attempt at saying it can't happen again, or better yet -- A CHALLENGE to the hacking community!

The stuff that was released was data that would fall under the umbrella of FOIA Requests. No information of a strictly personal matter was released.

Whoever this hacker or whistle blower is, rest assured that he has a LOT more information than he released to the world last week. It's being held back as an insurance policy for phase 2 of the operation.

And as the CRU continues to release their carefully-written statements, little do they suspect ...

Heh, the only way to be sure is take DNA samples. And even then they might discover a match.

Maybe they wouldn’t think this was much of a punishment - if their shrill warnings are true, it should be like southern Canada in a few years.

..Not.

A very good point you have made. Ed Begley, Jr., insists on getting all of his opinions from PhD’s in Climatology. That’s a very small group. He is just showing himself to be an idiot. But it’s not a new revelation.

Har! I wonder just how long a platoon of our finest((cough)) from DC would last? Minutes, maybe hours??? I'm afraid we would experience a sudden shortage of Depends as they rode off to battle. A necessity so's they won't have the additonial trauma of "soiling" their britches.

Legitimate scientists had better start dumping and disassociating with these scam/con artist illegitimate ‘scientists’ before they hurt the cause of what is true Science. The scammers are going to be pariahs in the scientific community. Global warming is a myth. The gig is up, go back to your homes and pray you can get a job teaching lab in Jr. High or testing cosmetics on yourself because animals can no longer be used. Just stop lying and stealing funds.

Highest-quality peer reviewed horse shit is still horse shit. I grew up on a farm, and I've shoveled up plenty, and recognize it when I see and smell it.

Hopes of climate change accord ‘are sinking’

Professor Trevor Davies, one of the centre’s founders, told The Times that it was time to start looking for alternatives to an international deal.

They made their comments on the eve of a three-day conference in Copenhagen this week in which thousands of climate change researchers will meet to discuss the latest discoveries in the field. The findings will be used in December when world leaders attend a UN summit, also in Copenhagen, to try to work out an international treaty on greenhouse gas emissions.

Professor Anderson and Professor Davies expect politicians at the summit merely to pay lip service to scientific evidence that greenhouse gas emissions need to be brought under control within a decade, if not sooner. They said that rather than wait for an international accord it was time now to consider what action could be taken.

HURRY, before anyone finds out that we are FRAUDS and we lose funding money!

I think that the info released was that which they were soon to release by FOIA requirements, but they had them ‘stolen’ so as to cover the disclosure with a hacking ‘crime’. Sows confusion, doubt, and steals thunder from the FOIA release. Also provides cover for MSM not to run.
