He doesn’t owe anyone squat.
He’s not required to talk to the cops either.

His lawyers (and Nike’s) disagree with the confessional.

I suppose if part of his success is due to people being “fans,” then he will have to live with the inevitable backlash when the media has ammunition to use against him. Drawing it out will only make it worse.

As for me, I don’t care about anything other than his golf game, if that.

It also didn’t help when he refused to talk to police. Twice. Its unfortunate that celebs can’t keep their pants/panties on. A week ago he was someone kids and adults alike could look up to as one of the few good guys. Today, not so much.

Why is Kudlow - a financial guy - wasting his time with this petty B.S.?

Further, why is anyone - particularly FReepers - wasting their time with it?

Fess up, Tiger. If you don’t, the tabloids are gonna kill ya.

Ummmm..., I think he did... LOL...

Statement from Tiger Woods

11/29/09

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.

This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.

This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

And then there’s Bill Clinton, who stonewalled about his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Woaaah! That caused one heck of a blow up,...

I thought it was the other way 'round...........

Fess up, be forgiven, and this too shall pass? Ugh. With this attitude, people get away with anything and everything. I DESPISE this attitude — I’m out there with Elin and the golf club. Keep running, don’t bother coming back. Does it not occur to you that people will commit immoral acts because they know that they will be forgiven and all shall pass? It’s the safety net.

Be responsible. What a radical message when the OJ model of denying everything and being a worm to live another day is the dominant one.

Well said.

I think we should offer a few suggestions to prepare him for the inevitable interview with the media. Feel free to add to the list.

1. Prepare for the interview by deciding what theme and key points you want your messages to convey in the interview.

2. Keep your message simple and make it sound like it is natural and not rehearsed.

3. Repeat your key message and points several times during the interview, if the interview is long enough for that opportunity.

4. Always keep your sub-messages and key points in the top of your mind and weave those messages into your answers, even if you are not asked a direct question for those specific responses.

5. Commit to becoming and being a skilled and trained spokesperson.

6. NEVER and I repeat NEVER say “NO COMMENT” when asked a tough or hostile question. Use the opportunity to refer back to your key message, by weaving in that key message again by saying something like, "I don't know the answer to that question, but I can tell you that..."

7. ALWAYS be honest and if you do not know the answer to a question, then admit you do not know. Never knowingly tell an untruth because it will be found out and will come back to haunt and hurt you.

8. Plan for the interview by anticipating the worst possible questions that could be asked and prepare a response to those questions. This type of preparation is invaluable and prepares you for those tough & hostile questions.

9. Practice! Practice! Practice! Ask a colleague to do a mock interview with you in preparation for your sensitive or hostile interview.

10. Do an evaluation of your interview performance. You may consider taping the interview and then playing it back to see how you look and/or sound. This is an excellent forum for training and to learn areas for improved performance.

Tiger, let your golf game speak for you and screw the media. What went on between you and your wife is your business.

Tiger, screw the media! You do not owe them squat. All they want is another payday based on your problems. Again, screw them, you don’t owe them an explanation.

Take care of yourself and your family. The media as a whole and myself as a person have no right to your personal life. Walk away from the media. If they hound you, stop playing golf, the sports media and the sport need you, you do not need them.

Play by your rules, not their’s, take your wife and kids out of the country for a vacation, keep your core together.

Above all, don’t give the media squat.
