INCOMING CME: This morning at 0120 UT, an eruption of magnetic fields around sunspot 1035 produced a long-duration C4-class solar flare and hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) in the general direction of Earth. Details of the blast will become clear when more data are downloaded from the SOHO and STEREO spacecraft. Meanwhile, high-latitude sky watchers should prepare for auroras when the CME arrives on or about Dec. 18th.
That means possibilities for Northern Lights, satellite comm disruptions and other excitements increase.
Actually, if this is correct, it may mean that the current solar minimum, which is resulting in a lot of very cold weather, may be about to give place to the next solar cycle.
That's good news for those of use who live in the colder parts of the country. As for the warmists, we just have to point out that it's getting a bit warmer because of the sun spot cycle, not because of farting cows.
I hope the minimum is over. Last summer it was too cold to get in the pool in July and August. Here in Missouri that is unheard of!

We told ya- man is causing warming’ (scientists have known about sun posts cuasing warmign for a long time now, but NOONE listened to them- and NOONE will listen to them if we start warmign again- they will simply blame man and sday they were right all along.)
Last I heard, sunspots were diminishing, and we were suppsoed to be entering into a 30+ year cooling cycle- which would have been good for our fight agaisnt the alarmist nutjobs- but now htis? NOT good, as far as the fight against htem is concerned-

Which is exactly what they said about the last sunspot, which was followed by 16 days of no sunspots...
The consensus among solar astronomers is that Cycle 24 will be longer and weaker than Cycle 23, which was extremely long and weak. Long and weak solar cycles favor cooling.
Further, there's this little gem: Sunspots may vanish by 2015.
