Welll... (that's a deep subject) you also need what at least can pass for an ethical government, that will not throw its poor under the bus. Otherwise with prosperity can come simply amazing environmental disasters such as what we see in China.

Great post, neverdem. This John Christy sounds uniquely rational when it comes to climate science. I get the impression that he’s highly skeptical of the warming concensus, and he’s ever so slightly holding back from simply pronouncing AGW complete hoo-ey.
