When Yellowstone "goes" the majority of the time, it's fairly trivial in the grand scheme of things.
People have this weird idea that Yellowstone is either not erupting, or destroying North America in a supervolcanic eruption, and there's nothing in-between.
Since the last supervolcanic eruption Yellowstone has had at least 30 eruptions ranging from a little bit of lava to Pinatubo-ish; the most recent was 70,000 years ago.
