They interviewed the right guy.

Michio Kaku is a genius, but he also possesses fantastic communications skills.

Michio Kaku

When Kaku was a teenager, he built an atom-smasher in his garage whose magnetic pull was strong enough to pull out the fillings of anyone nearby.

Impressive.

The Carl Sagan of the 21st Century.

However, I'm sure that unless they were made of steel, people's fillings were safe.

Uh -aren’t fillings non-magnetic? Last I heard, mercury/silver amalgam and gold were not ‘attracted’ to a magnet.

Quite a feat since amalgam isn’t magnetic... What a bunch of hogwash.

I enjoy watching him on the History Channel, for a genius, he’s a normal guy who put’s the subject matter into very understandable terms.

I would love to be a student in one of his classes.

Michio Kaku is a grandstanding publicity hound and shameless self-promoter. He was one of the tub-thumping idiots trying to scuttle the Cassini mission to Saturn because of the spacecraft’s use of an RTG, and propagandized a batch of ridiculously absurd scare-mongering conspiracy theories designed to confuse a scientifically illiterate public during that effort.

I lost any respect for him over a decade ago, and none of his smarmy glad-handing in the media will ever make up for it.

That is what they get for using cheap steel fillings. Most fillings are amalgum with no magnetic materials.

I never heard of anyone with iron fillings. Most are a silver amalgum that is not affected by magnets.
