Israel Mulling A Spring Or Summer War: Ahmadinejad
AFP via Yahoo News ^ | 16 Feb 2010 | AFP

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that Iran's arch-foe Israel was mulling starting a war "next spring or summer" but has yet to make a final decision.

Without specifying whom would be targeted, Ahmadinejad said: "According to information we have they (Israel) are seeking to start a war next spring or summer, although their decision is not final yet."

"But the resistance and regional states will finish them if this fake regime does anything again," the hardliner said at a press conference when asked about ongoing efforts to reconcile ties betwen Arabs and Israel.

The already deep-seated enmity between Iran and Israel have deteriorated since Ahmadinejad became the president, with the latter not ruling out a military strike against Tehran's nuclear sites in a bid to stop the Islamic republic's galloping atomic programme.

Shaky regime doing everything it can to create a rallying point for the population and hasten the return of the Madhi.

There is zero chance of us getting through 2010 without a war in the middle east. The status quo was bad enough. Iran being this close to nuclear weapons has pushed it to the brink. Since the Iranians show no signs of slowing down there is no chance - none - that we get through the next 10 months without a war.

That's very funny. It'll be just in time for the repeal of DADT. I had to laugh at that even though this is getting serious.

I know Iran is always saying this and that about Israel. However, this is at least the 3rd time this week I have heard someone in the Iranian leadership talk about a regional war against Israel and "finishing them" once and for all.

It's gonna get ugly.

CNN must be rooting for sweeps week and Olbermann is scheduling interviews with Jimmey Carter for each week of 2010 just in case.

I wonder if the Israelis won’t surprise everyone (except me) with a drive through Syria to destroy Iran’s military on the ground and then level all their nuclear facilities with IDF heli-borne demolition teams.

If they do “go large” don’t expect them to fight with one hand tied behind their backs like they did in Gaza and Lebanon the last two times out. Bomb magnet Fatima and Green Helmet guy will be road kill this time.

I wouldn't be surprised by anything the Israelis did. They've done "the impossible" a couple of times with the Osirak and Entebbe raids.

Netanyahu's recent speech at Auschwitz about the "New Amalek" makes me think whatever they have planned, it will be swift, strong, and unconventional (in the sense that it's something we will not have considered).

I am using the ACME crystal ball I found next to the body of a dead Coyote. He had that, a giant laser cannon and a drivers license that claimed his name was “Wile E. Coyote” on him.

:-)

Of course I don’t have a crystal ball. I just don’t see any way there is not some kind of war involving Israel and Iran in the immediate future in the middle east.

One can only pray that Israel has the courage to do what needs to be done to teach those bearded 9th Century knuckledraggers in Tehran a lesson they won't soon forget.

I don’t think Israel can be goaded by Iran into the first shot, I think they will “finish it” rather than start it.

I find it interesting that Israel’s enemy is announcing when Israel is going to war...

Have they become Israel’s spokesman? Has anyone from Israel confirmed this?

Or is Iran projecting?

Hey, Ahmadinejad’s daily rantings managed to bump up oil by $3 so far today!

*and that’s all that he’s trying to do when he rages about war or about nukes; spook the Chicken Littles in the oil trading pits

Finishing a nuclear war is usually a really bad idea. Better a preemptive strike.
