Host vs. Host: Limbaugh, Levin Pummel Beck
The Atlantic Wire ^ | 02/24/10 | Jake Simpson

Posted on 02/24/2010 12:59:45 PM PST by writer33

Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.

“Many conservatives stayed home or voted third party ...”

Do you have some numbers to back that claim up?

Never. Beck has never said all Republicans and Democrats are the same. NEVER. You have either missed most of his shows or you are taking the information 2nd hand.

He has NEVER said that.

He has said that when it comes to reducing the size of government and preventing future debt, the two parties are similar, but still NOT the same.

He has drawn a dozen charts to show that both parties are progressive, with the Dems being arch-communist and the Republicans being more moderate in their progressivism. But the point is, NEITHER is seeking smaller government, slashed taxes, increasing the rights and sovereignty of the States, and scaling back the unconstitutional services and powers the central government has seized since the Civil War.

Anyone who disagrees with him on this is no Conservative. He has NEVER said the parties are the same. He has said the Democrats have been highjacked and has a Marxist agenda, but the Republicans are NOT conservatives and have shown NO tendancy to scale back the role of the US central government. (I can’t even call it the “Federal” government anymore, because it is so intrusive over the states, there is nothing “federal” about it.)

You mean, besides all of the information he has taught MILLIONS of Americans about Obama, his czars, his advisorts, ACORN, SEIU, the Tides Foundation, global warming, the soaring national debt, the liquid crisis, the collapsed housing bubble, benefits to illegal aliens, and a few dozen other topics, that NONE of the other hosts like Rush or Hannity have ever taught us, let alone in such clear, compelling, honest detail.

Yes, besides that, all Beck has is charisma. How many stories about ACORN and global warming and the housing bubble broke on Rush or Hannity?

You are welcome.

I don’t turn off my brain and put all of my hopes on any source. I use my brain and think for myself. I have a wide body of radio/TV hosts I use to put news on my radar. I come here frequently for the same purpose. Then I go out and scour the internet to find my own data and make my own conclusions.

I have found Glen Beck to be pretty embarrassingly wrong before, and yet I am so dependent upon him to teach me so much I can’t find anywhere else. I find he has been a great source to start my research on a myriad of issues. I can listen to Rush or Hannity for a week or two and not learn the amount of pertinent new detail I get from Glen Beck in a day.

I have a lot of sources and I utilize them all and take them with the grain of salt they are with. Then I hit the books.

I am sooooooooo grateful for ALL of these resources, so I am no longer entirely dependent on being force-fed what the marxist media only wants me to know.

God bless radio and the internet for all the information they share that I can’t get anywhere else.

Look at where we are from one year ago. People are waking up. Folks who’ve been apolitical their entire lives are talking about the constitution, wanting to get government off their backs. The election this Nov. is crucial. We are working to get better candidates into office. With a huge win we can actually do some of the things we’ve longed hope for(with the will of the people). We’ll do it within the framework of the Republican party or we will squander this great opportunity.

Yes he did. Beck said they were no better than Democrats

Beck sure as hell was RIGHT about the thirteen Republicans that voted FOR the jobs bill...everyone is climbing all over Scott Brown's case, but he had twelve 'friends' on the GOP team voting right along with him...

To: Question Liberal Authority
The most I heard Rush say was something like this: saying that there's no difference between Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi, nor between Harry Reid and Jim DeMint is just plain silly.

I heard that today and you're right - that's the closest thing I've heard that resembles Rush saying something about Beck. Of course, he may have been criticizing those that have attacked Beck since his great speech at CPAC.

I wonder if there's an RNC "talking points" memo that may be driving the sudden hatred of Beck. The degree of lockstep hatred, post-speech is a telltale sign that it might be choreographed.

I asked how many stories broke on Rush & Hannity? That is my point. But for Beck and Big Government breaking these stories, Rush & Hannity wouldn’t have had the information to cover.

Rush & Hannity are huge? Why are they still carrying the water for the GOP instead of doing the deep digging and research others are doing that breaks on Glen Beck’s show?

Hannity is too busy interviewing McLame on his show on a DAILY basis, and sitting in a circle jerk with Bob Beckel to bother actually teaching us anything.

Among the main TV/Radio puntits to include Rush, Hannity and Beck, Beck is my foremost source of factual information with Michael Savage being second.

Rush will go on for 3 hours espousing about one single inane topic without teaching me a single new thing. He is great to listen to and I do learn from him, but the rate at which I learn from Glen Beck far outpaces all of the others combined.

I think he is indispensable. He can also be very wrong, so I cull his claims.

Enough, already from all of them! Put down your egos and go after the liberals, progressives, statists, whatever you want to call them! Why get in a catfight about a label, for crying out loud!!

After that BS started up today; I turned the radio off. Then they wonder why so many voters stayed home last November...instead of trying to recruit the 90 million voters in this country; these p*ssing matches chase them away...

If you think we can’t or won’t go back to the limitations originally set out by the Founders, just hide and watch.

Tell me, what difference did it make? You still got Obama.

Telling us not to support McCain in the primary is easy. It would have been hard to tell folks not to support McCain in the general election. But you see, it made no difference. If folks do not like the primary winner, they sure feel no different in the general election.

Such is politics. Might as well speak out now and make the GOP hear the voice of the voters.

“...why is Glenn playing their game?”

Beck is actually playing O’REILLYs game, albeit apparently without realizing it....Beck is star-struck with O’Reillys attention, but doesn’t see or care that the overt lefties who play O’Reilly (both with and without O’Reillys blessings and cooperation, LOL) like an instrument - BECK CANNOT SEE PAST THE STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (maybe it’s oreilly-dust?), that he thinks he sees.

Remember when O’Reilly first got the radio show????? Remember the BEEG BEEG accomplishments he would soon make to put HIM at the TOP of that game LOL.

Never happened, DID it? (Did you also recall the shots over Rush’s bow just before and as he launched his radio massage-fest for the “folks”?

Beck’s a kid, and absent some unforeseen development to the contrary he can redeem himself by dropping the schtick UNCEREMONEOUSLY and with-no-further-ado - DROP O’REILLY!

BUT I think Beck thinks he has finally arrived, when he has chumped himself round-robin by becoming O’Reillys ally WRT Rush/Mark......but he’s gotta wise up fast if he’s not gone beyond the point in his own mind.

IMO, Beck’s only forte’ was getting the attention of “the folks”......somewhere along the way the schtick should have fallen away naturally.......but there is a baaad influence on him now, and its name is BILL O’REILLY AND HIS TREACHERY.

Another such vote may see us end as a free nation.

You're right...then give us a conservative candidate we can vote FOR. McCain wasn't it, and now look...

Tell me, if the issue of immigration or Cap and Trade was the latest issue, could you count on the GOP? if you say yes, you are fooling yourself.

Beck is targeting progressives, they are where the rot resides, D or R.

And since it's primary season, that's the right thing to do. Although he should be pinpointing his critique to specific individuals a bit more.

They couldn't agree what those limitations were. The real constitution isn't written anyways. It is what people will accept. I'll give one example of a limitation which was rock solid in 1789 but will not be accepted today: the free exercise of religion clause. It was written to protect the right of states to establish a state religion. That will never be allowed again.

No, stud, you clean out your own house FIRST. You can’t deal with the enemy by keeping known collaborators in positions of power. What are you “thinking”????
