I am pretty sure that 40 meter waves could happen on those island 400 miles from the Chile coast. I remember watching a show about it after Xmas Tsumani a couple/few years back that showed it was possible.

AMPL - TSUNAMI AMPLITUDE MEASURED RELATIVE TO NORMAL SEA LEVEL.
IT IS ...NOT... CREST-TO-TROUGH WAVE HEIGHT.
VALUES ARE GIVEN IN BOTH METERS(M) AND FEET(FT).
PER - PERIOD OF TIME IN MINUTES(MIN) FROM ONE WAVE TO THE NEXT

So TEN major waves, ....?

"Ya think anyone woke Zero up yet?"

Honestly what could he do. Sending in massive aide ATM would be another exercise in futility.

I suspect the Pentagon is formulating plans right now on how to get a few hospital ships and maybe a carrier group down there to initiate a rescue and recovery effort but that takes time.

Let the man sleep a bit so that his under-staff can get proposals ready for him to act on. And I would say the same for any POTUS. This disaster is gonna test the world economy greatly (read the USA's economy) No sense rushing in without a bit of preparation.

The draw back is we won’t realize the full extent of the disaster until the tsunami’s subside. This won’t be just about Chile.

CNN is far above FOXNews on this type of coverage.

No doubt there. This is gonna make Haiti seem like a walk in the park.

Economically this could shake the financial foundation of the western world bad enough to push us all into a depression if the results of the Tsunami get very bad.

Does this mean all the islands in the Pacific will get hit to one degree or another?

They are talking about how they don’t really know how big of wave. 6 inches in one island and 40ft. wave at Hilo Bay? Describing things from the 1960s.
