Which DLG? What Med cruise?
USS Leahy, CG-16 (formerly DLG-, a guided missile frigate), in late Jan. 1974. We were with the USS America task force, but were steaming ISE at the time. Had to pull in to Toulon for repairs. It was a significant storm and several vessels went down in the area. On the bridge, we heard people crying on the VHF and couldn’t do a damn thing to save them.
