Why would they schedule a talk presented by a terrorist in the first place?

I support allowing a full airing of all ideas, but I would not be comfortable with an unrepentent terrorist bomber speaking at my school.

cited personal and professional reasons, including safety concerns

You invite a known terrorist and are concerned for HIS safety? Talk about turning around a scandal to attack your critics.

"The director of the Social Justice Research Center at the University of Wyoming cancelled the scheduled appearance of Professor William Ayers."

The director should be expecting a subpoena from representitive Waxman any day now.

Sun-Times 2008:
Ayers, 63, spent 10 years as a fugitive in the 1970s when he was part of the “Weather Underground,” an anti-Vietnam War group that protested U.S. policies by bombing the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and a string of other government buildings. Nobody was hurt in the attacks by the defunct organization, which the FBI labeled a “domestic terrorist group.”

Today, Ayers and his wife — fellow former Weather Underground fugitive Bernardine Dohrn — live in Hyde Park, where they moved after surrendering in 1980. Federal charges against the two were dropped because of improper surveillance, so they avoided prison.

Ayers and Dohrn have raised two sons of their own and adopted a third boy whose parents were Weather Underground members who went to prison.

“The exercise of freedom requires a commensurate dose of responsibility”

This is the root of most all that ails our society. The “safety net” that our government demands for “those less fortunate” is allowing those who refuse to accept personal responsibility to infringe upon the freedoms of the responsible.

Not expecting individuals to suffer the consequences of their failures is doing them an extreme disservice.

One cannot become a productive member of society without the ability to recognize personal choices/actions have consequences. Being allowed to face the consequences of personal choices, one will develop the skills to adjust accordingly.

Good to see the University make a sound decision.

Hell, Hillary is not going around welcoming terrorists to the country. I’m sure Pelosi can find a few to go get on her government jet.

The “presidents” friend is a controversial homegrown, leftists terrorist—why is he even walking the streets, no less running a campus talk circuit?

Excellent. Unfortunately my alma mater did not do the right thing. Pitt had the sicko (Ayers) speak on Friday. Unreal.

UW is probably one of the least politically-correct universities around. Lots of gunracks on campus last I knew.

Next shut down the bastions of liberal training grounds University of Chicago, Harvard, Yale, University of Wisconsin- madison and so on. Where liberalism reigns enheeded it is shut down. the buildings areleveled and a plaque is posted to show the consequences of arrogance and lunacy. we have a pantywaist pissant whom is nothing but a fruit, nut and flake and he is not from California.
