When I read about this being a major ash producer I immediately thought about the weather. Guess its a good thing I planned for so many cool weather crops for the garden.

I might pick up a few extra packs of seed. Beet, turnip, carrot, peas, broccoli, cabbage, greens for any non-gardeners who are suddenly considering starting to.

Indeed, you are fortunate. I was thinking about what one could do, but it would all depend on having energy — either through electric service hopefully still on (so much for “solar panels”, eh?), or via a generator to run grow lights for a garden in one’s basement or something (one that can be used year-round). Would take a lot of planning and probably raise a few eyebrows if it wasn’t necessary — the DEA might be interested in knowing if you’re really growing tomatoes! ;)
