Second Volcano, Hekla, Erupting*

Update: It appears the original reports of a plume are not necessarily consistent with an eruption. For now this seems to be no big deal.
And don't miss: 10 dormant volcanoes that could blow and cost the economy billions >
Original post: Uh oh, the Icelandic gods are going nuts!
Now it appears that a second volcano, Hekla, is erupting, according to Reuters. (via AshAlerts)

MSNBC also reports that Icelandic media reported on an icelandic eruption.

I suspect that Hekla is smoking though...or, at least somethings going on, eh?
All volcanoes on the four inner planets have simultaneously begun to erupt!
Oh man. The world’s volcanoes are turning on us. Another triumph for soft diplomacy.
Uh oh. Hekla is the volcano indicated by the purple pin. Eyjafjallajökull is the red pin. Katla, the really scary one, is the big white splotch just to the east of the red pin.
UPDATE: It's apparently a false alarm. An Icelandic Broadcasting Service camera was pointed at Eyjafjallajökull but it was labeled Hekla. MSNBC picked up the breaking news item.
“All volcanoes on the four inner planets have simultaneously begun to erupt!”
Really?
Do you have friends reporting to you from the other 3 planets?
They need not worry. I'm sure 0bama will be exceedingly generous with our money if he has to spend every last cent we've worked for to bail out his eurosocialist friends.
At least I can pronounce Hekla. I don’t have a clue how to pronounce the one that’s shooting it’s rocks off now.
I prefer the term venting. Venting is gaseous with an absence of particulates
I'm gonna call it "Fred."
All left wing socialists know that Bush had Cheney dump explosives in Iceland’s volcanoes, just to piss of the Europeans.
The prestigious BBC web site shows Eyjafjallajökull some 75 miles west of your (correct) placement.
More often than not you would be correct.
But, boy did I embarrass myself on more than one occasion by an ill-timed reliance on that advice.
Reuter's?
Ha ! Good name.
Our neighborhood “Fred” has a “volcanic” personality. He generally leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes.
He would be honored to have a volcano named after him.
I confess. All these years I have been saying and spelling it as Helka...it was only when I went to correct their 'mis-spelling' in this article that I discovered I was wrong.
I remember that. (and, a few others at that time)
Does the subject really come up all that often for you?
All these years I have been saying and spelling it as Helka
Actually, the one they are worried about is Katla. It almost always follows eruptions by the smaller volcano. Checked on volcanic eruption list in The Encyclopedia of Volcanos. Found that among others, Katla had major (VEI-4) eruptions in 1311, 1416, 1625, 1721, and 1918. It also had significant eruptions (VEI-3) in 1612, 1823. It seems as if 2010 could easily be time for another one, or a few years hence. I read one article at Google page Iceland Volcano Eruptions Katla, that said when it goes off under the glacier it has produced floods as great as the Mississippi River. Also speaking of the Mississippi, post Icelandic volcano weather has included freezing of that river at New Orleans!!
