Why all the worry over CO2? A volcanic eruption emits far more noxious gasses and particulate matter that can disrupt the ecosystem and, as we see now, our technological and economic systems as well. By the numbers, the CO2 will dissipate into the atmosphere, raising the count marginally, but heavier gasses will accumulate in distant regions at different times affecting plants, animals and humans for some time.
Unfortunately, it'll affect politics as well, making the less educated fodder for the incredibly stupid predatory politicians.
