And here, ladies and gentlemen, is how global warming is causing volcanos and earthquakes.

You know, the seas have risen quite a bit.

When I was a child, you could walk form North Carolina to Bermuda without getting your feet wet.

Just saying...

At least the comments are encouraging. Even CNN site readers aren’t buying this eyewash.

“Alan Weisman is the author of “The World Without Us,” an international bestseller now in 33 languages.”

The a**hole pines for a world without humans. I’m waiting for him to take the lead - no luck so far.

This article was obviously written by a non-geologist.

Except that Antarctica has as much ice as it ever has since they started recording it...

And if all this ice has melted as they claim, where did the water go? The rate of sea level rise has been essentially constant for hundreds of years. The sea has been steadily rising since the last glacial period about 13,000 years ago...

It is this moronic "science" that gives science a bad name.

The loss of a few feet of ice off of land masses (partially offset by the presence of liquid water instead) is influencing the motion of miles thick plates of stone?

The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Alan Weisman.

I.e., in case you were wondering, I just made this stuff up -- Alan.

I wondered how long it would take them. Now we will have to endure the “flex earth” theory of global warming caused by SUV’S. Your Explorer is causing the volcanos to erupt.

I propose that it’s the weight of all those letters in the Icelander names. Elyyliayapapjailgarapskull and the capital, Ridakillerkayak? The island is being squeezed like a stomped on bull frog, I tell ya!

Editor’s note: Alan Weisman is the author of “The World Without Us,” an international bestseller now in 33 languages. It was named the Best Nonfiction Book of 2007 by both Time magazine and Entertainment Weekly, the #1 Nonfiction Audiobook of 2007 by iTunes, and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in nonfiction.

NON FICTION BOOK?!?!?!?!

Follow the link- The thesis of this idiocy is determined, and repeatedly touted by the lefties as “Non Fiction”! BWAHAAHAA!!!!

Talk about scientific ignorance of the highest order...

This is just so gloriously laughable, too freaking bad the left doesn’t read.

It’s looking like this may be a long decade. And if we don’t pull carbon out of the way we energize our lives soon, a small clump of our not-too-distant surviving descendants may find themselves, as Gaia scientist James Lovelock has direly predicted, like the first Icelanders: gathered on some near-barren hunk of rock near one of the still-habitable poles, trying yet anew to eke out a plan for human civilization.

This exemplifies the speculative Eco-babble that passes for “science” now-a-days. Just WTF is a “Gaia scientist” anyway? An Earth scientist that worships Gaia? I’m counting the days before Al Gore and the UN declare this a crisis worthy of a new tax.

Possible catastrophism ping for an article about how global warming is causing earthquakes and volcanoes. CNN actually tries to make the case.

Yet something else is lately worrying geologists: the likelihood that the Earth's crust, relieved of so much formidable weight of ice borne for many thousands of years, has begun to stretch and rebound.

Only a screwball "geologist" would come up with a theory like that - a disgrace to the profession.
