JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Officials say an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.4 has hit eastern Indonesia.
Indonesia quickly issued a tsunami warning for the region.

On average, there are a million earthquakes each year.
There was a 5.7 in California today, with a 5.9 aftershock...didn’t even make headlines in the news..
There are , on average , 18 earthquakes in the 7.0-7.9 range, per year.
The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency registered the temblor at 7.1, and initially warned it had the potential to trigger a tsunami. That didn’t occur, however.
This past 30 days, there have been 355 measurable earthquakes recorded by USGS.

Is 355 measurable quakes in 30 days about average or above average?
