You are NOT understanding correctly. Djou supports DADT and states that anyone who cannot serve under that regulation should not be in our armed forces.
They should be massage therapists, hair stylist or interpretive dancers, etc, etc.
Dijou is also against the Iraq war and is a democrat in Republican clothing. He will probably switch parties to win this fall.

experiments of a far more dangerous kind: That’s the kind of concoction that spawned Major Hasan and a number of others like another Hassan that rolled a grenade under a tent in Iraq, killing and injuring his ‘fellow’ soldiers.
It’s the kind of experiment that had General Casey lamenting the possibility that too much negative publicity
for undercover terrorist Hasan would harm the military’s
