State Tax Increase May Be Bigger (Illinois)
Chicagoist ^ | 7/28/10

The expected personal income tax increase that Gov. Quinn proposed earlier this year was supposed to be increased from three percent to four percent. But it could actually increase to five percent budget director David Vaught said today: “We’re going to pass a tax increase in January,” Vaught said. “We expect it is going to be substantial.” Meanwhile, Quinn is also taking a hit in the polls which show GOP candidate Bill Brady with a lead. That’s a 67% increase in taxes. More hope and change from the state that brought you Barak Obama.

It would be more efficient to make it 25% that way they won’t have to waste time next year. Socialism never can get by on just a 5% tax.

It’s the same old story. Way way over compensated public employees. How does $90,000 + benefits for a suburban chicago gym teacher sound? It’s only going to get worse. Time to vote with your feet taxpayers of IL!

Metro Chicago is going to be the next Detroit, a shrinking tax base as people flee to states like Texas and Florida. The whole damn thing is coming down, BO wants his communist America but to get that you need a solvent nation to make it work for a while , like countries in Europe who can at least on paper implement rich social programs and outrageously progressive taxes. BO is starting way, way behind.

No matter how bloated the payrolls and other waste in the system, the Democrats only answer is to raise taxes. As an IL resident, I am Not Happy.

Just take all of everybody's money except the money that belongs to "people of color."

Anyone who disagrees is a racist.

Damn, as a retired vet, I like having Illinois as my Home of record. We live in a warmer climate now, but still have proeprty and ties in the State. Illinois was considered top two states for retired military. I cannot sell my house in the North suburbs, property taxes reflect value 5 years ago, market value has reverted to the propert value 10 years ago. Now an increase in State taxes!? Time to change my residency, what a shame.

100K for 8 months of work. Is she getting furloughed? Non-union state employees have to take 25 unpaid furlough days here in this god forsaken state.
