Burden of war in Afghanistan shifts even more to the U.S.

With their numbers approaching 100,000 as a consequence of the troop buildup ordered by President Obama in December, U.S. troops now account for about two-thirds of the NATO force in Afghanistan. And American casualty rates are commensurate with that dominance, making up more than two-thirds of July's Western military fatalities, according to figures provided by icasualties.com, an independent website.

With NATO allies distancing themselves from the notion of an open-ended stay in Afghanistan, the American aspect of the war comes increasingly to the fore.

Can we pay for this???

Small government.

Limited foreign policy.

Bring the troops home (and stick'em along the Mexico and Canada borders)

Any ole' time conservatives miss garrison America?

I think the going theory is that if we’re not over there spending trillions of dollars to blow up Afghan villages, the Taliban rebels might come here to the US to blow up some buildings or planes. Seriously, that is the current state of thinking supporting the war.

I don't think much of Michael Savage, but he's got this one right on the nose: Pull out of Afghanistan, let the Taliban/al Queda take it over and make it a "safe haven", then carpet bomb/nuke it.

I am tired of American heroes dying for no reason in that septic tank caveman hatchery cat box of a pre-country.

I'm also convinced the reason Il Douche doesn't actually fulfill his campaign promise of ending the war and bringing our sons and daughters home is because he's terrified of having several hundred thousand armed, trained patriots back on American soil.

The problem is that we’re treating this like a combination military/humanitarian mission. We should be blowing up the place to smithereens and wiping out tribes.

Win in four or lose in ten. That’s my new war motto.

Originally, I supported Bush in the war on Iraq. Now, I wish we had done something else.

I wish Bush had ordered all Muslims here is the USA on visas, student permits, work permits, etc. to immediately leave the country, and go “home”.

We could have made a serious statement to the world that we will not tolerate citizens of countries ruled by Islam in our country, which was under attack.

Furthermore, any Islam-believer who had become an American citizen could be deported immediately, without benefit of our justice system, if they were found to be associating with any group supporting Islam.

Then, all mosques would immediately be closed, and the Islamic “faith” would be outlawed in the USA, as incompatible with our Constitution, which does not permit religious intolerance.

Perhaps if we had done this, Europe and other countries struggling with these nut-bags would be encouraged to do the same, freeing them from having to put up with Sharia, Burqas, rioting youts’, etc.

This is an emotion driven opinion, obviously, but I do think there could have been a case made for such.

As far as Saddam was concerned? I truly feel sorry for the suffering of ordinary citizens under his tyranny, but not sorry enough to sacrifice our sons and daughters to the rest of the nutbags over there who still want to blow them up and take them out.

Afghanistan? Forget that bunch of warring tribes. Bring our troops home, but only after we have kicked all the Muslims out of the USA, and while we are at it, tell the Black Muslims here in the USA that they will have to “emigrate” to any Muslim country that will take them.

Feeling cranky today.
