Good post and just read it.
I seem to recall something from over twenty years ago that was to have proven this was possible. Someplace in the world was a large sort of inverted stone bowl, or “cap”, formation in an area that no dinosaurs or plant matter was expected to have existed. This stone cap was unbroken, but they were going to tap through it to see if gas and oil were on the bottom side.
If that happened, which I don’t recall since I was in school at the time and didn’t keep up on everything, why wouldn’t this have been largely answered already?
Same theories have been thrown around for many years. With of course two opposite opinions and number of in between to flavor the arguments.
