WASHINGTON The Obama administration, citing evidence of continued troubles inside Irans nuclear program, has persuaded Israel that it would take roughly a year and perhaps longer for Iran to complete what one senior official called a dash for a nuclear weapon, according to American officials.
White House officials said they believe the assessment has dimmed the prospect that Israel would pre-emptively strike against the countrys nuclear facilities within the next year, as Israeli officials have suggested in thinly veiled threats.
For years, Israeli and American officials have debated whether Iran is on an inexorable drive toward a nuclear bomb and, if so, how long it would take to produce one. A critical question has been the time it would take Tehran to convert existing stocks of low-enriched uranium into weapons-grade material, a process commonly known as breakout.
Israeli intelligence officials had argued that Iran could complete such a race for the bomb in months, while American intelligence agencies have come to believe in the past year that the timeline is longer.
We think that they have roughly a year dash time, said Gary Samore, President Obamas top adviser on nuclear issues, referring to how long it would take the Iranians to convert nuclear material into a working weapon. A year is a very long period of time.

Not sure where you are drawing your conclusion(s) from but given my long held stance concerning Iran on this board, I am far from “believing” Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is merely something cooked up by the CIA. My commentaries in this thread led back to one fact: No matter the amount of predicitive analysis the CIA or any other US Intel sevice utilizes, they are and have been long documented to be OFF and utter bunk...just like the information being utilized by the AnnointedIdiot to allow him to spew the ridiculous assurance that Iran is not an “imminent” threat to Israel.
This is the same intel that said Saddam wasn’t developing WMD? And now they are assuring Israel that Iran won’t have a bomb for at least a year?
Sorry, can’t have it both ways. If our intel is inept then there is no reason to believe them.
This is going to sound harsh...However, the government of Israel should in no way trust the government of the US in this matter as the Obama Administration has show a reckless disregard for serious things of this nature when speaking of Iran. It should act in its own interests and in a very good and great way it will be acting in ours. Only when adults are back in charge of the US would I urge Israel to trust us.
What a joke. It’s been proven time and time again that all of the so-called intelligence services in the USA couldn’t find their own butts if you handed them a map and a flashlight.
On the other hand, the Israeli Mossad has proven time and time again that they’re the most effective intelligence service in the world, bar non. It must be pretty difficult for the Israelis not to bust a gut laughing out loud when the US “intel” services try to give them this type of absurd information.
Don’t worry, it’s only a shower.
“On the other hand, the Israeli Mossad has proven time and time again that theyre the most effective intelligence service in the world, bar non.”
I’ve always understood, jokes aside, that the Poles had the world’s premire intel services......no not kidding.....The Israelis come in a distant second to the Poles....
What WE worry? Our thousands of intell agencies, departments, bureaus and consuls and security teams, backed up by hundreds of thousands of government bureaucrats have this issue well in hand. Count on them to precisely nail this just like they have proven in the past...
Run for the hills boys. This is all patooey, and Americans know it.
This is a solid thumbs down on our inept bumbing Pink Panther tell em what they want to hear leftist boneheaded experts known as American intell.
This comes from mac daddies merry band of morons, thieves and liars, how reassuring.
Oh, sure, I see. This is intel from the same source Boosh got his WMD intel, is that right, 0bowdown? Ha! And again I say; ha!

Thank you TigersEye!
Obama said hes going to campaign in 57 states, and it turns out that there are 57 Islamic states
It appears that Israel’s death warrant is about to be signed.
Glad to post it. The “57 states” slip is interesting given the “57 Islamic states” thing. I would add it in if it were a little more directly linkable.
A spokesman for Israels embassy in Washington declined to comment for this article. That's good enough for me. This article is disinformation BS.
I’m not clear on your position, and I apologize if I’m misunderstanding you.
1) Do you think Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons?
2) If not, do you think that the CIA is simply wrong in it’s analysis or are they intentionally feeding us bad information?
3) If they are intentionally feeding us bad information, why?
Thank you,
Tom
1) Yes, I do believe Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons.
2)& 3) Yes, I believe that the predictive analysis methods, created in conjunction with their own intel reports, etc., are off or utter bunk besides being politically tainted. This is not to suggest our intelligence services are feeding the general public bad information or bad information; I am merely suggesting that the predicitive analysis methods they are or have been using are not full proof or accurate....they amount to best estimations or ‘guess-a-ments’ allegedly based upon the latest intel, etc. at hand. Hence, why I posted up the track record of our varying intel services and their past predicitive analysis estimates (transferred from an academic paper I wrote using the LAMP predicitive method on Iran and the nuclear proliferation dilemma in the Middle East-—send me a private message if you want the link to it being it is online)....not encouraging when it comes to the Iranian nuclear weapons program.
