One of the treasures of Idaho are the people. While I think Americans in general are friendly kind folks, it seems in Idaho they are especially good people.

Hope you made it up the eastern side of the state...in the Salmon, Challis, Stanley area...spectacular.

I recently rode my motorcycle across northern Idaho.

The people I met and talked with were friendly indeed.

However, the Forest Service up there seems intent on shutting everything down that they can (even if they aren’t suppose to).

The are closing back roads to ‘improve the bear habitat’ and the like. As if the bears don’t like roads too! (they do, saw lots on the roads!)

And they can’t be bothered to update their maps... even ones that are required by law. There was a 2006 settlement that required the USFS to publish MVUM (motorized vehicle usage maps) for each of the national forests... only the area around Boise has the maps done. The other areas are too busy working shutting stuff down to bother to update the maps!
