Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino and Post State Editor Fredric U. Dicker last night got into an angry confrontation -- during which Paladino threatened, "I'll take you out."
It started when Dicker asked Paladino if he had any proof of his shocking allegation that Democratic rival Andrew Cuomo cheated on his former wife during their marriage.
"What evidence do you have for something most people would consider a smear?" Dicker asked.

That's entirely possible. After all, the paper that we know photographed is "other family" has endorsed Cuomo.
Paladino reacted like a father and now they are covering their tracks by saying "Don't look here! Look over there! We're not dirty! Carl is!"
That's really an interesting take.
He began by accusing Cuomo, out of the blue, of having had an extramarital affair.
An editor of a newspaper that was a different paper from the one who broke the story on Paladino asked him to substantiate his claim. Rather than back up his claim, Paladino launched into a tirade and accused the editor himself of behavior for which Paladino, again, offered no evidence.
I don't see how this constitutes reacting like a father: "That other guy cheated on his wife! No I don't have any proof, but if you keep asking for proof, then I accuse you of having my daughter followed! No, I have no proof of that accusation either! I will have you taken care of!"
Won't work. I lived through one Emperor Cuomo. I ain't doing it again.
As did I since I was a New Yorker for 20 years.
Cuomo will be elected if this is how the Paladino campaign is going to be conducted. Cuomo ran HUD like a personal cookie jar for years and this is what the Paladino campaign comes up with? Really?
Keep your smears in Jersey.

A GOP candidate has a legitimate shot to win the governorship of ultrablue NY, then goes into self-destruct mode and begins throwing it all away, then I point out that he is getting dangerously off message into territory he does not want to be in, and I'm the bad guy?

Because I lived in NYC at the time, and the story was about his wife stepping out on him. He kicked her out, she did not kick him out. He initiated divorce proceedings against her.

If you think pointing out Paladino's attempts at derailing his own campaign is "shilling for Cuomo" then you probably think that telling someone not to put a gun barrel in their mouth is "shilling for suicide."

Btw, I’m not the only freeper that remembers Cuomo cheating. He’s dirt. He wrecks the country through HUD, marries for political gain, lives with his GF while going through a divirce and Spitzer, the lowest of the low, holds him in contempt. And you shill for him. While living in Jersey. Curious.
Of the two candidates he was clearly the better one.

If I were "shilling for the opposition" I would be championing Paladino's new foray into discussing Cuomo's personal life.
I would be saying: "Forget the issues! Don't take Cuomo to task on his mismanangement of HUD! Don't look into his biased and selective actions as state AG! Focus on Cuomo's personal life! That's the winning strategy!"
I posted this thread specifically to point out that this is a losing proposition for Paladino. New Yorkers will overlook personal flaws if you can get them excited about lower taxes, more jobs and less wasteful spending.
Those over us who support Pallidino’s in-you-face response are in the right here, I know it, the other posters know it, Rush knows it, and so should you.
Fact check: The newspaper guy works for the same newspaper that it was being claimed tried to take pics of the little girl.

If I knew Cuomo, or even liked him, I would be encouraging Paladino's abandonment of a winning strategy.

He's the Editor. He runs the paper and gives assignments. He doesn't just "happen" to work for the same paper.

That's an odd theory, since I have been attacked on this forum quite a bit for defending Christie. But keep going, this stuff is fun to read.

That was untrue and lowdown. I never see anyone around here advocate stalking a kid for political reasons.
Sounds to me like Paladino and his wife had a tragedy, a loss of a child. Many times after something like that marriages have problems. That doesn't make the man a dirtbag. Obviously his family has worked it out and reunited while accepting this child. That is something to be respected.
If this reporter had offered a rundown of the shenanigans of Cuomo along with his Paladino story, it wouldn't be as big a deal. I heard the reporter. He did not deny that he had never written a bad story on Cuomo.
This guy was out to exploit Paladino’s daughter and their situation to help Cuomo. Why? Because that is the person who gains from the story.

Let's pretend for the moment that the only reason why I became a FReeper more than a decade ago was to lie in wait to "shill for Cuomo" - let's just say that's a rational person's assumption and not a madman's.
Having made that assumption, would it be logical that FR is a place where people could be persuaded to vote for Cuomo? Or a place where people could be persuaded to not vote for his conservative, better-qualified opponent?
No, it would not be logical.
So what would be the best way to help Cuomo out on a website like this?
The only possible answer would be to get FReepers to encourage the Paladino campaign to adopt a losing strategy of turning the election into a referendum on personal lives rather than policies, to steer Paladino away from what he does best - standing up against taxes and spending and for jobs and prosperity.

Absolutely... the Left wing media has unquestionably taken the lead to destroy many conservative candidates... in fact, they go after ALL OF THEM ..especially conservative women.
Palladino knows exactly what the Cuomo media operatives are up to and his reaction is typical of any non politician, conservative candidate, FATHER.
This media trashing is a perfect cathartic. This highly visible race is perfect and Carl Palladino knows everything he says and does will shine a light the this liberal corrupt politician/media ALLIANCE.

Palladino hasn't a chance if he runs a typical campaign in NY State... he must show who these elitist rally are and hope for a common man backlash. He has to mobilize those that are "Mad as Hell and not going to take it anymore".
