Last night on his show Mike Huckabee called on (a seemingly unprepared) Ann Coulter to explain last months claim that all liberals are atheists. Only the ones who have to stand for election even bother pretending to believe in God Theres only one true Christian liberal in the country and thats Mike Huckabee. Indeed.
Coulter, who protested this was not our topic, Governor! defended the quote by saying it was not an insult to Huckabee, but an insult to all of Obamas so-called Christian advisers (they are such fake, phony frauds) whom Coulter thinks do not spend enough time protesting abortion in the Presidents presence.
So I started thinking, what if you were a genuine Christian but you had some crazy liberal views on things that are not directly Christian, what would that look like? And I thought of you Governor.
The crux of Coulters Huckabee is a liberal argument is that she thinks he was soft on illegal immigration during his 2008 run specifically he once compared it to slavery and moreover everyone wants to be black in this country everyone wants to claim the mantle of victimhood and its neither acceptable nor a fair comparison. Coulter additionally asserts that Huckabees position that you shouldnt punish the children of illegal aliens is the modern day equivalent of the government supporting illegitimacy in the African American community 30 years ago (presumably she is referring to welfare here) and when you subsidize something you get more of it.
Huckabee, perhaps not surprisingly, appeared more upset at the idea of being called a liberal than he did at any of Coulters typically unhinged analogies, though it should be noted amidst all his protestations he held his ground and refused to judge anyone elses Christianity. Watch below. If this midterm election season is anything to judge by, its probably just a matter of time before Coulter is asked to moderate an upcoming presidential debate.
Yeah, but ironically, that didn’t arise from his Liberal part, that arose from his miguided Christian part. So he’s a bad choice both because he’s a Liberal and because he’s a goofy Christian, one who thinks the governor’s or president’s clemency powers should be exercised with the mindset of Preacher Billy Bob.
One can be a Christian and exercise clemency (medieval rulers were routinely advised by bishops to be merciful; Piers Plowman [1300s] has an angel coming down to tell a newly elected king that he should show mercy rather than merely strict justice because at the Judgment Day he [the new king] will be begging for mercy rather than strict justice from God and if all he ever gave on earth was strict justice, that’s all he’ll get from God) without being foolish and imprudent.
Mercy is part of the Christian calling but a Christian governor has to ask prudentially whether granting mercy will endanger the innocent for whose defense the governor is responsible. Huckabee just didn’t use his smarts as he tried to be a Christian in public office.
So, in the end, the worst thing about him is not that he’s a Liberal or a Christian or a Liberal Christian.
It’s that he wasn’t very bright in his clemency decisions.
So, while I applaud Ann for calling a spade a spade and calling Huckabee a true Liberal Christian, she should have gone on to say he’s a Stupid Liberal Christian. Or just a Stupid Christian. It’s possible to be a wise Christian in office. Not easy. But possible.
How did you miss that? The rest of us caught it. It was all over the blogosphere.
On the other hand, I would expect Huckabee to get all weepy sentimental over gays wanting to marry, just like he got all weepy sentimental over the convicted murderer he released so he could murder again.
He gave us McCain. Case closed
He opposed McCain you will recall, if you can. Romney did not have a chance and thank God he will not again in the GOP nomination process.
McCain may not have been as bad as Romney, had either become president.
FR was a BIG backer of Huckabee in 2008..gee, that got us real far. LOL. I wonder what will happen in 2012..lol. This site is hacked.
The last thing we need is MORE government.
And with that, he’s done. Post-1988 and the Willie Horton thing, there’s just no chance the GOP’s going to give a presidential candidate a pass on one bad pardon, let alone two, even if he or she’s perfect on everything else. And Mike...is not perfect.
Amen, brother. I don’t think I can explain it, either.
Maybe we’re Huckophobes ?
My eyes................. I am getting my new issue of VOGUE out to burn away this image..........
If she holds the converse, that no conservatives are atheists, then I, a declaring Christian, know she's full of crap.
Whether or not a person is struggling on the path to God, it's none of my or her or your beeswax when it comes to politics, that's Christian. Take it as an indicator of somebody who's ... in my opinion, not quite figured things out yet and they've taken it to a personal level. I know some fine principled conservatives who truly believe themselves atheists, and I know every type ranging from naive church folks to bubble-brained liberal twinkies who were committed Christians.
Coulter picked a stupid bone to pick because it is based on a false premise.
>> She is for the homosexual marriage<<
You obviously didnt hear that she told them she was against it.
“Ann Coulter is a liberal. She is for the homosexual marriage, “Log Cabin” (I trust you know what that refers to, anatomically) Republicans.”
Not true. Here’s what Ann said:

...that he is an accessory to two murders.
Huckabee encourages illegals to disobey and disrespect our laws and brags about how this shows he is a good Christian. Huckabee pardons violent criminals and brags about how this shows he is a good Christian. Huskabee continually tries to slime his way out of responsibility for his actions. He handed out pardons to violent criminals like he was handing out pieces of candy. Then when they killed others he went on TV saying none of it was his fault.
Huckabee is a slimy, phony liberal. His attempted sneak attack on Ann Coulter failed miserably. I wish he would just shut up and go away.
ROTFL!
I cannot stomach either one.
