A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Alaska shows Republican Joe Miller with 35% support and Murkowski, the incumbent senator he defeated in the state’s GOP Primary now running as a write-in candidate, with 34% of the vote. Democrat Scott McAdams runs third with 27%. One percent (1%) prefers another candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings because if Murkowski wins she is expected to caucus with the GOP in the Senate.

I think we need to help Joe Miller more. With all talks in FR, etc., about how happy we are that he defeated Murkowski, I believe he only raised less than $800K since the primary. In the meantime, just after the primary, Murkowski had $1m of Republican money.

Please donate:

Joe Miller for US Senate

I know people don’t want to rehash this again, but don’t you think that since the e-mail (small story to us) situation that he has lost his stride? It really just seems that way. He was so positive prior to that and working really hard EVERY day, but we haven’t heard much from him the last five days or so.

They are the only state that takes more federal money that they give.

I donated yesterday to Joe after hearing from Mark Levin that the race had tightend up.

You have to take this with a grain of salt. Remember, Murkowski is not on the ballot.

How many people are going to bother to write her name in?

Are the Libertarians running a candidate?

If so it will be on their shoulders that Joe loses.

If their is a Libertarian in this race, we need to convince him/her to quit the race for the good of the country.

If they refuse, then you will know that Libertarians are just like Lisa, they only care about themselves, not the country.

The good news is the Dem is in third place. So, it looks like Murkowski will not result in the Dem winning. She has an uphill battle as Miller’s name is on the ballot and people will have to write in her name. However, if it is close, then she likely will tie it up in the courts claiming write-ins that were not counted for one reason or another should go to her.

Good point! I never thought of looking at it that way. Many will most likely look for her name and not realize they need to write it in.

Then vote for Joe, or no one for Governor.

Oh my...

They are going to have fun up in Alaska. Somebody is going to have to READ 34-35% of ALL THE BALLOTS.

I think the Libertarian candidate that Murkowski was hinting to replace (but declined to withdraw) is still running.

So much for the Libertarians most common complaint for not supporting a Republican.

THEY ALWAYS, ALWAYS SAY WE DO NOT GIVE THEM A GOOD CONSERVATIVE CHOICE AND THAT’S WHY THEY WILL NOT SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN IN THE GENERAL ELECTION.

When the rubber meets the road, the truth always comes out that the Libertarians are fine with Democrats or RINO’s running things.

If they go to the polling place with intention to vote for Murkowski, it doesn’t matter whether her name is there or not. If this were in other states, Murkowski might be in trouble because many places required people to spell the candidate’s name right. Not in Alaska. As long as the voter’s intention is clear, e.g., “Lisa” or “Murkasky”, it will be counted as a vote for her.

“They are going to have fun up in Alaska. Somebody is going to have to READ 34-35% of ALL THE BALLOTS.”

That is when the smell of ward heeler home cooking oozes forth.

Yes, but they still need to write something.

If the ballot has nothing checked, nor written in the box for Governor, then she does, not get a vote.

I can see where this is headed...a vacant Alaska seat while the courts spend 9-12 months wrangling over whether a write-in vote for Liza Morkowski or Leeza Mirkawsky or Lucy Muzorski ought to be counted.

Murkowski needs her crony butt fired, and I intened to vote for Miller, but the last week it has become apparent I will have to hold my nose somewhat while doing so. Murkowski is killing him right now with her newest ads...."Miller says food stamps are unconstitutional, but his wife took them....Farm subsidies are unconstitutional be he took them, etc.". She's even calling him a "flip-flopper", and it's sticking.

The union thugs are running her campaign and his signs are torn up and stolen nightly.

It does matter. You can pretty much deduct at least 1/3 of her support.

The one good thing is that people will have to write her name in. A lot of people will simply pull the lever or check Republican. Don’t underestimate laziness helping Miller even if Murkowski is tied in the polls.
