Princess Lisa needs to lose ***ALL*** of her positions in the Republican Party.

Notice that suddenly the media isn’t whining about Reagan’s 11th Commandment like they did with O’Donnell?

Yes, I understand.

I just want people to be so ready and sure that we go in and knock them out with out a recount.

When a boxer is hesitant, he himself is ripe for a KO, but if a boxer is so sure of himself, even if he eventually loses, he scares the bejeevers (sp?) out of his opponent.

I want the Democrats so afraid of the momentum they feel coming from the right that they satay home and out of our way.

Her name didn't appear in the survey question, either. Here it is:
1* If the 2010 election for United States senate were held today would you vote for Republican Joe Miller or Democrat Scott McAdams? (Please note that we split the survey to rotate the order of the candidate names, so while half will hear the Republican candidate first, the other half hears the Democrat mentioned first.)

Unfortunately, my hunch is that Mitch McConnell wants her to win to send a message to us.

“They are the only state that takes more federal money that they give.”

Uh, wrong.

Logically, you just stated that 49 states contribute more to the government than they receive (or are tied) - only Alaska reaps the ‘benefit.’

I live in Montana and we receive more than we ‘give.’

"How is he responding to these charges?"

He's not, other than saying he'll answer no more questions about his past.

I'm not saying I agree with Murkowski, not in the least, I'm just explaining what is going on here in Alaska.

As far as I'm concerned, the only just way to eliminate any government program is to refund every cent to every person that paid into it to those who paid, then shut it down completely. Mass private sell offs of federal land to US citizens could easily pay for this, or the refunds could be in land.

All I’m saying is that he’s not putting up a very good fight.

We only have one newspaper here, owned by McClatchey out of Sacramento and they are putting the screws to Miller.

Damn I have a hard time believing that enough people will write in Murkowski or some variant to make the race this close. Strange things happen so I guess we'll see come Nov. 2.

Polling Data via Real Clear Politics

Poll Date Sample Miller (R) Murkowski McAdams (D) Spread
RCP Average 9/24 - 10/13 -- 36.0 34.3 25.0 Miller +1.7

First, good luck polling a write-in candidate. A lot of Lisa’s support comes from more rural parts of Alaska that are big on the handouts, and they may have a harder time with the write-in thing.

Second, watch McAdam’s support. If he fades, then Murkowski will probably win. Actually, the best thing for Miller were for McAdams to pose a real danger - then many people flirting with voting for Murkowski would switch back to Miller.

Folks are putting their political hopes in a party that could nominate both a Joe Miller and a Murkowski, depending upon how the primary turned out.

How about a party that gives you a choice between a Joe Miller and a Sarah Palin. :)

So? There's nothing wrong with taking advantage of unconstitutional handouts. If you don't, the government illegally takes your money and you don't get ANY of it back. This way, at least sometimes you get some back. Same with student loans, small business loans, grants, Social Security, Medicare, and just about everything the Feds do--it's all unconstitutional. But I'm going to make sure I get paid mine.

Exactly. The system is what it is. Each of our tax dollars goes into it. Because someone wants to change the system does not mean they have to somehow live off the grid in the meantime.

This is akin to Governors being criticized for opposing the bloated stimulus, yet taking stimulus dollars. Why shouldn't they take those dollars when their citizens tax dollars are funding the thing.

With that said, Joe Miller really has to explain himself more clearly. I give him and other Tea Party candidates a lot of leeway since they often aren't polished politicians - but they really need to explain positions a little better so the media won't be able to so easily make them look radical.

Exactly. He has went downhill since that silly email scandal.

Shame there are some more worried about 2012 than 2010.

What a nightmare.

"2/3 of Alaskans must rely on freebies from the government."

I don't know exact numbers, but most Natives receive state and federal assistance and medical care.

“Exactly. He has went downhill since that silly email scandal.

***************************************************

No one is more worried about 2012 than 2010. But you are right that the email flap and the publicity it generated hurt Miller more than anything else so far in this campaign. In distancing himself from Palin and refusing to say she was qualified to be President, he angered some of her MANY fans in Alaska. This is, unfortunately, a crisis of Miller’s own making. Don’t try to blame Palin or her supporters for it.

In a three way race this was stupid, because three way races are “base” election in which the conservative voters in a conservative state could deliver the seat to him by themselves. He has made a race out of it by appearing to push their heroine away.

If he wants to put some distance between himself and these two bozos, Miller should campaign with Sarah Palin A LOT and have her cut commercials and robocalls for him, like she did in the Primary. Contrary to what the phony polls say, she is very popular in Alaska. Especially among conservatives who have sufficient numbers, by themselves, to win the election.

Miller’s fundraising has suffered too. Miller’s refusal to even admit she was qualified initially made him look like an ingrate and someone who was already following the Beltway conventional wisdom which holds that Palin is to be avoided. It looked disloyal. I hate to say it because i was supporting Miller on this site when he was an asterisk and was given no chance at all. But facts are facts.

All that having been said, I think Miller will win. Alaska is too conservative and write in campaigns never gain much traction. I certainly hope he wins.

“Hopefully with this being a Rasmussen poll all the folks here who thought this was going to be a walk a park because Joe Miller is endorsed by Palin will pay attention.”

****************************************

It WAS going to be a walk in the park until Miller was perceived as having dissed Palin on Chris Wallace. He was way ahead. This got wide attention only because some quisling on his staff leaked an email, probably from a Huck loyalist. Miller has made two mistakes so far. First, declining to say Palin was qualified looked disloyal even to those who aren’t sold on Palin. Second, sharing a private email with potentially damaging information in it gave some traitor the cudgel with which he beat Miller over the head.

Hopefully, these are all the mistakes he will make. I think he still wins becasue AK is a conservative state and this is a conservative year and write in campaigns are next to impossible. His foot faults have made it closer than it would otherwise have been.
