George W Bush thinks Sarah Palin is 'unqualified'
Telegraph UK ^

Posted on 11/05/2010 11:26:17 PM PDT by Chet 99

Mr Bush has allegedly told friends that Mrs Palin is not qualified to be president and criticises John McCain for picking her as his Running Mate in 2008

"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man," a Republican official close to Mr Bush told the New York Daily News.

"He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin."

Mr Bush has allegedly been disparaging about Mrs Palin in the past.

Matt Latimer, former special assistant to Mr Bush, wrote in a book released last year: "'I'm trying to remember if I've met her before. I'm sure I must have.' [Mr Bush's] eyes twinkled, then he asked, 'What is she, the governor of Guam?'"

That is the point. these stories (with un-named sources) are intended to get republicans, conservatives, and tea party members to second guess each other.

If they don’t name a source, just ignore them.

Agreed. Furthermore, the article mentions the word "alleged." Regardless, look at all the FReepers who've fallen for this BS.

I think we have only elected two vice-presidents who served the president who selected him. Van Buren and Bush I.

BINGO! We have a winner.

The one thing that really gets me and makes me think that Obama and Kerry might just be right about the American people being "stupid" is reading comments such as the ones on this thread.

The elites are playing three dimensional chess and you all are playing Tic-Tac-Toe. The elites are reading Sun Tzu and you all are reading the manual to World of Warcraft. If you want to truly win back this country you are all going to have to quit thinking, acting and (most importantly) reacting like a bunch of rank amateurs. The world you have ventured into is the world of hard core politics-the forces arrayed against us are strong, well seasoned and are not willing to give up power without a fight.

In case you have all been too busy looking at bright, shiny objects to notice the sell job is already ramping up to push Romney to the forefront for 2012-he is, after all, a member of the elitists club and the most palatable to them. Already it appears they are doing an excellent job judging by some of the comments here.

They would LOVE having him as the 2012 Republican nominee-he would be a win-win for them. The majority of conservatives/"teabaggers" would not support him because he is a RINO of the worst kind-a Massachusetts one with his own Romneycare albatross hanging around his neck. If he gets the nomination you will end up with Obama or Hillary as President. If Obama is gone or if he survives to run in 2012 and loses to the likes of Romney the bicoastal elites will be happy because they will have their best option of continuing "business as normal".

In order to make him the "obvious choice" they have to destroy everyone in the way and the one they fear the most IS Sarah Palin. Why do they fear her? For the same reasons they feared Ronald Reagan-they know that it is "game over" for them. Sarah has already shown that she has no problems with kicking the entrenched elites of both parties to the curb, shining a spotlight on the cockroaches in the woodwork and cleaning up government-she did it in Alaska. The greatest fear of the bicoastal elites is that she wins and rides in on another tsunami like we saw Tuesday. If that happened the elites know that they can kiss all their policies and agendas they have worked so long and hard to put into place over the last 70 years goodbye. THAT is why they need to destroy her.

BTW-in case you all have not noticed they are saying the EXACT SAME things about her in the EXACT SAME arrogant, condescending, snarky way that they said about Ronald Reagan during the 1960's and 70's.

I’m inclined to agree with you but I also have to wonder does it matter? Once the bar has been lowered by electing the totally unqualified Obama is it even an issue any more?

oh how I love these "he said" reports.....

as for Sarah Palin....SHE is the only reason that McCain was even close...if not for her, there would have been no fund raising...If not for her, there would have been no crowds...

SHE enlivened the Pub ticket and while McCain spoke to fair crowds of supporters, Sarah talked to HUGE crowds of fanatical worshipers....

I don't know if I want Palin to be president....I love Marco and Christie and yes even Scott Brown or Rudy or Bachman or Nicky Haley for that matter...

but I do know that when TPTB selected McCain, the best choice was for him to select Sarah...

the bottom line is that McCain always was jealous of her....always...from the night of her convention speech til now....these old farts can't fathom that we are sick of their type and want a youthful exuberance...

and just look at all the good that Sarah Palin has done.....she's just a very remarkable woman....

Three. You forgot John Adams. Richard Nixon doesn’t really count since his VP and presidency were separated by eight years.

The governor of Guam has more experience to be president than Obama did.

First off...Governor Palin may or may not have been qualified to be President in November '08.She may or may not be qualified today. But she's undeniably better qualified for the office than is Osama Obama and she, unlike Osama, could become qualified with some work and "polishing".

And as for McLame having run a lousy campaign...it's far worse than that.Bob Dole was a good man who ran a lousy campaign.McLame was...and is...just a lousy candidate.

Bush is trying to pave the way for Brother Jeb. Psuedo-conservative RINOS will push the Bush/Romney ticket. They must be stopped.

And I’ll be the first to admit she’s smart, she’s beautiful.

I hardly think you are the first to admit it, you'll have to stand in line for that one!

However, they stand in line, also, to buy a best seller written by a mom of 5 with a dotting handsome supportive husband with many accomplishments under her belt for someone so young with undeniable leadership skills who can kill a mouse with one hand and slice a RINO with the other hand at the same time. And any mocking coming her way seems to bounce back time on the mocker. And when she speaks, everyone listens.

She is obviously a unique woman who is a Patriot from the get go. But to some it's just a reminder of lack in their own lives.

Not everyone can 'take' Sarah - only the confident.

Sarah Palin is just doing the job that the usual American Republicans won’t do — saving the nation from socialism.

See you at the nominee signing!

Why didn't GW tell us that Obummnutz was unqualified when The One was running for the presidency?

Hmmmm?

I guess we only need a warning when it's a conservative thinking of running.

Methinks Establishment Karl is still quietly working for his old boss and using Fox to do so.

How so? Because the pieces are starting to fall in place.

could become qualified with some work and "polishing".

Are you the new Chet? I'd say you qualify but you need a bit of polishing. We'll wait.
