It could happen. Betelgeuse could go anytime.
Very true! If it appears to us during the Winter, we will be without darkness for a few months. If we see it during the Summer, our sky could look similar to Tatooine(wouldn't that be the coolest!). Betelgeuse could have already went Super Nova, but we aren't yet seeing it.
